Arizona Fall and Winter League Recaps - 10/20

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

Surprise over Mesa 16-10
Not an auspicious start for RHP Jarred Cosart who gave up seven runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks before I even had time to turn on Game Day. Cosart only lasted two-thirds of an inning. The next pitcher, Tyler Green of the Detroit organization gave up another five runs in his two-thirds of an inning and was followed up by LHP Alex Sogard who also pitched two-thirds of an inning and gave up two hits, including a two-run home run. Yes, Surprise got 14 of their runs in the first two innings. RHP Nick Tropeano stopped the bleeding with a hitless third in which he allowed one walk and struck out two. RHP Chia-Jen Lo allowed Surprise's 15th run in the seventh on a solo home run. On the offensive side, DH Jon Singleton went 0-for-4 with a walk and scored a run. Jio Mier got a start at third base, went 2-for-5 with a double and scored twice.

No game today.

Aragua over Caracas 2-1 in 12 innings
2B Jose Martinez went 1-for-5 with an RBI and a strikeout for Aragua. For Caracas, CF Brandon Barnes went 1-for-6 and struck out three times.
