This Carlos Hernandez was an amateur free agent from Venezuela signed by the Astros in 1992 who played in 16 games for Houston in 1999 with a .143 batting average in 14 at-bats. He also had three stolen bases in his limited playing time. He was traded in March 2000 to the Mariners.
