Quad Cities River Bandits: Minor League Snapshot

The Quad Cities River Bandits, the Astros Low A full season affiliate, is currently on their All-Star break after compiling a league best 45-23 record (.662 win percentage), winning a first half title and ensuring a playoff berth in the postseason. Their closest division rival is Cedar Rapids (Twins); the Kernels are 5.0 games behind the Banditos going into the break.

The Midwest League All-Star game will be held on June 23rd with C Jacob Nottingham, 3B Nick Tanielu, and C/1B Jamie Ritchie representing the River Bandits. 2B Mott Hyde and RHP Austin Chrismon were also named to the squad but have since been promoted to Lancaster and won't be participating.

TEAM PITCHING
2.75 ERA - 2nd of 16 teams
1.149 WHIP - 1st
188 BB - 12th
556 SO - 5th

None of the Quad Cities pitchers are top 10 league leaders in ERA or WHIP, but that is more due to the fact that so many pitchers from the team were promoted to Lancaster early on (RHP Joe Musgrove, LHP Bryan Radziewski, LHP Albert Minnis, LHP Reymin Guduan and RHP Keegan Yuhl) and many of the rest don't have enough innings to qualify. RHP Austin Chrismon, who was only very recently promoted to Lancaster, came close with his 2.96 ERA and 1.027 WHIP. RHP Daniel Mengden also had a very impressive 1.16 ERA and 0.983 WHIP in his time with Quad Cities prior to his promotion.

Those left behind (or added to replace the promoted players) with Top 10 worthy ERA and/or WHIP include: RHP Joshua James (2.67 ERA/1.111 WHIP); RHP Akeem Bostick (1.50 ERA and 0.762 WHIP); and RHP Francis Martes (1.16 ERA and 0.935 WHIP). RHP Christian Powell, RHP Aaron Greenwood, RHP Angel Heredia and RHP Justin Ferrell have also done well in their limited work at the level.
