I don't know if Buchanan is back home now as well, but he didn't play last week. Guduan and Gustave both had very good relief outings, but newcomer Jordan Jankowski most decidedly did not.

Danry Vasquez had a nice couple of games on Friday and Saturday, going 6-for-10 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored. Devenski had a very nice start on Monday getting his first win of his winter league campaign (5.0IP 4H 1R 0BB 7SO). Alaniz also had a good start on Tuesday, going 5.2 innings and allowing four hits, no runs and one walk while striking out seven, but allowed two runs in two innings of relief last night. Hoyt made his first appearance in a week last night, allowing two hits and a walk over one and a third innings, but keeping it scoreless (and earning the save) due to a couple of well timed strikeouts.

Astros scout Jim Stevenson talks about scouting Jake Arrieta and Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel "just checked all the boxes." It was a "no-brainer" for him.
RHP Brendan McCurry came to the Astros in a trade with Oakland for Jed Lowrie and RHP Cy Sneed came from the Brewers for Jonathan Villar. You can find more about McCurry, a right-handed relief pitcher with good command and an enviable strikeout-to-walk ratio here and more about Sneed, a starting pitcher who has made it as far as High A in his second season here. McCurry made it to AA in his second season and was placed at #30 on the Astros MLB Pipeline prospect list after the trade, replacing Kyle Smith who sat out 2015 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
