Before I talked with Lancaster 1B Telvin Nash on Monday, I touched base with Hitting Coach Darryl Robinson about Nash's progress, "Telvin's doing good. He's doing real good right now. His head is on right this year. He's more positive. We've had some good conversations just to get him in a good spot, get him to free his mind and go out and just perform on the field. Don't worry about the outside interferences that go on because there's always something. Just the other day, we talked about mental toughness, being able to concentrate on the job at hand under adverse conditions. And that's something that he's really doing this year. He's a year older and a year wiser. He's going about his business and I like it."
Despite having a couple of rough games on Friday and Saturday (as far as strikeouts go), Nash has definitely been making strides in that area. And when he connects, as he did with two very impressive home runs on Friday night, there is no doubt that his power is the real deal.
I spoke with him briefly the day after Lancaster no-hit the Stockton Ports.
