THURSDAY'S RESULTS

Greenville over Lexington 5-3
It wasn't the best debut for relief pitcher Euris Quezada as he gave up three runs and was charged with the loss. Luis Cruz wasn't as dominating as he had been his last time out, but still put up a quality start.
Carlos Quevedo picked up the pieces in the last 1.2 innings after Quezada's eventful third of an inning, but the damage had already been done.  Brandon Meredith's debut was not much better, although he did manage a sac fly RBI in his 0x3 three strikeout appearance.  Matt Duffy on the other hand was 3x4 with three doubles and two runs scored. Kvasknicka added a double and an RBI and Zach Johnson got his 31st RBI through 26 games.

Midland over Corpus Christi 10-2
Midland jumped all over starter Ross Seaton (L, 1-3) in his three innings. Seaton gave up seven hits, nine runs (four earned), three walks, a strikeout and a home run. Arcenio Leon allowed one unearned run in his two innings and Jonnathan Aristil shut down Midland for the final three.  Six unearned runs, four errors, a passed ball, and a wild pitch. You're just not going to win many games that way. Jake Goebbert was 2x4 with a triple and an RBI and Jonathan Villar hit a triple as well.  T.J. Steele (.160) was 1x3 with a strikeout and a run scored.

Albuquerque over Oklahoma City 15-5
Paul Clemens fared even worse than Seaton did in his start, giving up 10 hits and seven runs (all earned) and one walk over only two innings. Sergio Perez, Adalberto Flores and Juan Abreu collectively allowed another 14 hits, eight runs and three home runs in their six innings of "relief."  Fernando Martinez (2x4), Scott Moore (3x5 with two doubles), and Jimmy Paredes (2x5) all had decent nights at the plate. Justin Ruggiano hit a two-run home run, his third dinger of the season.

GAME OF THE DAY
Lancaster over Bakersfield 8-6

What went right:  The top five in the batting order got it done. Ruben Alaniz (W, 3-0) might very well have lost this one as he gave up nine hits, six runs and two home runs over six innings, but his offense came to the rescue and Pat Urckfitz and Jorge de Leon (S, 3) nailed the door shut against Bakersfield. Another good night (3x5 with a home run) from Jio Mier was awfully nice to see as he has now raised his average to .301.

Ruben Alaniz - 6IP 9H 6R 1BB 4SO 2HR
Pat Urckfitz - 2IP 1H 1SO
Jorge de Leon - 1IP 0H 1SO

Jio Mier - 3x5 HR RBI 2R SB
Rafy Valenzuela - 2x5 RBI 2SO 2R SB
George Springer - 2x5 2B RBI 2SO 2R
Telvin Nash - 2x3 2B 2RBI BB SO R SF
Erik Castro - 2x5 2RBI 2SO

What went wrong: Three errors. You guys are killing me with these errors - cut it out!

PITCHER OF THE DAY
Jonnathan Aristil for three innings of relief for Corpus with two hits, no runs, one walk and six strikeouts.

PLAYER OF THE DAY
Matt Duffy or Jio Mier probably deserve it, but I'm going with Telvin Nash because he's been in a mini-slump and needed the good night.
