The Express, doing business as the Chupacabras, stopped the Música (Redbirds) as they took the lead in this four-game series.

Both teams scored a run in the 3rd, a run in the 4th, and twice in the 5th. Round Rock's runs in these innings came on an Alex De Goti solo homer, a Yordan Alvarez RBI single, and a pair of RBI singles from Myles Straw and Jamie Ritchie. Memphis took the lead with a sac fly in the top of the 6th, but that proved to be short-lived as Taylor Jones clubbed a three-run home run in the bottom of the 6th. Memphis got a run back in the 7th to make it a one-run game, but Round Rock managed to hang on. Straw and A.J. Reed both had two hits apiece on the afternoon.

Rogelio Armenteros went four innings and allowed two runs on four hits (solo homer), walked three, and struck out four. Tanner Duncan and Framber Valdez followed with two innings apiece out of the bullpen. Duncan allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits, while Framber allowed the run on the sac fly, a double, and struck out two. Ralph Garza Jr. struck out one in a 1-2-3 9th to earn the save.

Round Rock and Memphis will wrap up this series with an 11:35 AM first pitch. Forrest Whitley will make his second start of the season and he'll take on Jake Woodford.

Corpus Christi 13, Amarillo 5

The Hooks avoided the sweep and snapped their six-game losing streak as they put up a crooked number in every inning in which they scored.

Corpus put up five in the 2nd inning thanks to a pair of two-run singles from Lorenzo Quintana and Stephen Wrenn and an RBI single from Abraham Toro. Chas McCormick smacked a two-run triple in the 4th. An error in the 5th allowed Osvaldo Duarte to come home with another run; Toro was credited with an RBI on the play. Josh Rojas added a two-run single of his own later in the inning. McCormick scored on an error in the 8th and Wrenn capped off the Hooks' assault with a two-run double.

Rojas finished 4-6 on the day and he has driven in a run in all but one game this season for Corpus Christi. Wrenn (2B, 4 RBI, 4 BB, R), McCormick (3B, 2 RBI, 2 R), Quintana (3B, 2 RBI, R), and J.J. Matijevic (2 R, BB) all finished with two hits.

Gabriel Valdez pitched 4.1 innings and allowed two runs on six hits (solo homer), walked three, and struck out four. Brett Daniels and Brendan Feldmann both threw 2.1 innings; Daniels allowed two runs on two hits, walked three, and struck out three. Feldmann allowed a run on a solo homer and struck out two.

The Hooks return home and they'll look to exact some revenge on Frisco after they got swept in their foray into the Metroplex last week. José Hernández-Urquidy faces Pedro Payano at 6:15.

Fayetteville 9, Myrtle Beach 4

The Woodpeckers picked up another series win as their long season-opening trip continues...

Miguelangel Sierra set the tone for this game when he launched a grand slam in the 2nd inning that put the Woodpeckers on the board and in the lead. One inning later, Jake Adams whacked a solo shot. Fayetteville then proceeded to score a run in four consecutive innings, starting with a Bryan de la Cruz sac fly in the 5th. Jake Meyers ripped an RBI double in the 6th, and finally, Jonathan Arauz and Seth Beer chipped in with RBI singles in the 7th and the 8th, respectively. Beer and Corey Julks finished with two hits apiece on the afternoon. De La Cruz also doubled and drew three walks to go along with his sac fly.

Cristian Javier allowed a run on three hits and struck out four in five innings of work. The best stat that he put up was zero walks. Carlos Sanabria allowed two hits and struck out three over 3.1 scoreless innings, and Hunter Martin got taken for a ride, but he was able to get the final two outs of the game before everything completely unraveled on him. Martin allowed three runs on three hits.

The fourth and final leg of Fayetteville's season-opening 14-game roadtrip takes them to Zebulon, North Carolina, where they will begin a three-game series with the Carolina Mudcats at 7:00 Eastern. Bryan Abreu will get the start in game one.

Wisconsin 6, Quad Cities 3

The Timber Rattlers got the jump on the Banditos early and foiled their bid to sweep the series. Quad Cities' winning streak is stopped at five.

Mark Moclair and Devin Conn pitched two innings apiece. Moclair allowed two runs on two hits, walked four, and struck out two, while Conn allowed three runs on three hits, walked two, and struck out four. Luís Garcia pitched the last four innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked two, and struck out six.

Jeremy Peña hit a sac fly in the 3rd to bring in Quad Cities' first run of the day. Scott Schreiber hit a groundout in the 7th that scored Austin Dennis and Enmanuel Valdez lashed an RBI double in the 8th. Peña (4) and Valdez (1) both stole a base in this game.

Quad Cities' upcoming series with Cedar Rapids was supposed to be a home series, but the continued flooding issues in the Quad Cities has forced it to be moved to Cedar Rapids. Shawn Dubin will start game one and he'll face Luís Rijo at 6:35.
