I plan to use "this space" to feature players who are currently flying below the radar, but who deserve a look.

Brett Conine - July 2018

RHP Brett Conine was drafted by the Astros in the 11th round in 2018 out of Cal State Fullerton and quickly mastered short season A in his first season (1.99 ERA, 1.074 WHIP, 31.2 IP). Conine is carrying that early success over into his sophomore season, going 3-2 with a 1.91 ERA and a 0.758 WHIP in six games (five starts) for the Low A Quad Cities River Bandits (6 BB:40 K in 33 IP). With that kind of success, it is not surprising that Conine was promoted to Advanced A Fayetteville over the weekend. Watch this space ...

FORMER ASTRO UPDATE

Jon Kemmer - June 2016

Originally drafted by the Astros in the 21st round in 2013 out of Brewton-Parker College, OF Jon Kemmer quickly became a fan favorite. During his sixth season with the Astros in 2018, Kemmer was traded to the Twins but was released by that organization in March 2019. Kemmer quickly landed in the Mexican League where is is currently playing for the Generales de Durango. In six seasons in the minors, he hit .277/.346/.490 and in his first 29 games in the Mexican League, he is hitting .357/.447/.643 with 11 doubles and seven home runs.
