The Astros and A's did battle in the lower levels of the Minors while they took on the Cubs in Triple-A and Class A Advanced.

Fayetteville 5, Myrtle Beach 4
W- Leovanny Rodríguez (5-2)
L- Ben Hecht (1-2)
S- César Rosado (2)
Fayetteville home runs: Jacob Meyers (6, solo in 9th)
The Woodpeckers nipped the Pelicans with a ninth-inning homer. Myrtle Beach did run off four in the 4th but fortunately, Fayetteville limited the damage to just that one inning.
Enmanuel Valdez opened the scoring by ripping an RBI double in the 2nd inning and Jake Adams added an RBI single in the 3rd. Ruben Castro drove in two with a pop fly single in the 6th to tie the game at 4 and Jacob Meyers led off the 9th with a homer to put the Woodpeckers in front. Meyers, who also stole a base, and Jonathan Arauz had two hits apiece on the evening.
Chad Donato went six innings and allowed four runs on five hits (three-run homer), walked two, and struck out eight. Leovanny Rodríguez was the first man out of the Fayetteville bullpen and he allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out four in 2.2 innings; that last out eluded him, so César Rosado was called upon to get it, which he did without incident.

David Hensley hit a double with two outs in the 9th and Alex McKenna got plunked, but they were both stranded to end the game. McKenna went 2-2 and stole his first base of the season.
R.J. Freure and Jonathan Bermúdez both went four innings. Freure allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits, walked three, and struck out four. Bermúdez turned in a scoreless outing, allowing two hits, walking one, and striking out four.
