Minor League Snapshot: Lancaster JetHawks

It will be an interesting final weekend of the first half for the High A Lancaster JetHawks. They are currently 37-30 and in second place in their division, two games behind the 39-28 Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Dodgers) with three games left before the break. The Quakes will be playing the North Division first place (41-26) Visalia Rawhide (D'Backs) on the road while the JetHawks will be hosting South Division bottom dwellers Lake Elsinore (28-39), a Padres affiliate. The 'Hawks will need some help from Visalia, but a first place first half is still a possibility.

The California League All-Star game will be held on June 23rd with OF Brett Phillips, 1B A.J. Reed and IF Jack Mayfield representing the JetHawks.

Here is how the team stacks up against other teams in the league in various categories ...

4.69 ERA - 8th of 10 teams
1.445 WHIP - 8th
229 BB -T1st
614 SO - 2nd

None of the Lancaster pitchers are top 10 league leaders in ERA or WHIP, but that is simply because none of them have the innings to qualify. Numerous pitchers have performed well in more limited innings, including these three who were promoted to Corpus Christi, but who did particularly well at Lancaster: LHP Chris Cotton (1.40 ERA/1.052 WHIP), LHP Brian Holmes (2.37 ERA/0.923 WHIP) and RHP Joe Musgrove (2.40 ERA/0.967 WHIP). In addition, RHP Keegan Yuhl (1.76 ERA), LHP Reymin Guduan (2.70 ERA), and LHP Brian Radziewski (3.31 ERA) have ERA's that would put them in the top 10 in the hitter-friendly California League if they qualified. Newcomers RHP Austin Chrismon and RHP Kevin Comer have had solid starts in the league as well.
