As posted over the weekend, RF Adam Bailey won the fourth spot on the WTH roster. Also receiving votes were Jacob Goebbert, Emilio King, Drew Muren and Domingo Santana. Go here for more info on the What the Heck 25-Man Roster.
Next, let's pick our first relief pitcher. Since there are so many relief pitchers in the organization, I had to get a little creative in order to whittle down the number to a manageable list. So I picked RHP's who generally only pitched one inning per game (the actual cut-off was an average of 1.5 IP per appearance), but I did not include those used primarily as closers. So these pitchers would be used primarily in the 7th and 8th innings. The minimum number of appearances was a rather arbitrary 13.
There is no clear-cut winner in this one. Do you go with Blake King and his .176 BA against? How about Juan Mojica's 1.35 ERA? Or Sammy Gervacio with his 1.071 WHIP. And don't forget about Chris Hicks, Josh Zeid and Jason Stoffel, hand-picked by Astros management to represent the Astros in the Arizona Fall League.
I'm going to do the polling for the relief pitchers a bit differently. I'm going to allow votes for multiple players and then we'll recycle the runners-up in a later poll as we fill our last 2 or 3 bullpen positions. Vote for your top five choices. I'll put you on the honor system.
