As posted over the weekend, RHP Juan Abreu convincingly won the ninth spot on the WTH roster as our Closer. Also receiving votes were Jorge de Leon and Ryan Cole. Go here for more info on the What the Heck 25-Man Roster.
Next, let's pick our centerfielder. The list below, in my opinion, represents a veritable embarrassment of riches - many extremely talented players at various points in their professional careers. Let's look at some of the more interesting prospects.
Austin Wates was the soul of consistency, hitting .300 over 526 AB's, and showing good speed. Emilio King opened some eyes this year with a great arm and decent power. Teoscar Hernandez had the best OPS of the bunch at .847 and a low strikeout rate. Like him or not, believe in him or not, Jay Austin has been holding his own in the Arizona Fall League - could 2012 finally be a breakout year for him? Javaris Reynolds has great raw potential and he's still only 18. And, last but not least, I think we're all eager to see what George Springer, our number one draft pick, will bring to the table in a full season.
With all that said, here are the 2011 stats for the players. Look them over and vote for one.
