RHP Sammy Gervacio (27)
Gervacio was originally signed by the Astros as a NDFA out of the Dominican Republic in 2002. He pitched in 35 games for the Astros in 2009 and 2010. In 2009, he was particularly effective with a 2.14 ERA and a 1.143 WHIP before injuries later took their toll. Gervacio showed some signs of regaining his effectiveness in 2011 as he split his time between Corpus Christi and Oklahoma City and compiled a 3.28 ERA and a 1.071 WHIP. He quickly became a fan favorite in Houston, mainly because of his elaborate wind-up and unconventional pitching style. He is currently a free agent.
