Spring Training Update

RF J.D. Martinez had an excellent day on Saturday, going 2-for-3 with a double and a two-run home run. 1B Carlos Pena also offered up a solo shot while CF Justin Maxwell and 2B Jose Altuve contributed to the extra base onslaught with doubles. Overall the pitching was very effective with starter Dallas Keuchel allowing three singles over two scoreless innings; Phil Humber allowing two hits and one run (a solo home run) and striking out three over three innings; and Wesley Wright and C.J. Fick each recording a scoreless frame. Rudy Owens did not fare as well, allowing three unearned runs in his inning of work, but he wasn't helped by a fielding error by SS-2B Marwin Gonzalez and a throwing error by C Jason Jaramillo. Jose Valdez got his his first save of the spring.

Game 9 Minor League Standouts: No real standouts, but Delino DeShields did come in to pinch run for Marwin Gonzalez, stole a base and scored a run.
