Bob Lillis was drafted by the Colt .45's from St. Louis in the 1961 expansion draft and played for Houston from 1962 through 1967, hitting .232/.267/.272. He also managed the Astros, taking over from Bill Virdon in 1982 and staying in that position through the 1985 season with a 276-261 record. He came in second in the voting for NL Manager of the Year in 1983, losing to Tommy Lasorda.
