You only thought the minor league baseball season was over! The Arizona Fall League and the Caribbean Winter Leagues are ramping up for action with the AFL set to begin play today.
As a reminder, eight Astros minor leaguers will be participating in the AFL on the Peoria Javelinas team:
RHP Jonas Dufek
RHP Matt Heidenreich
RHP Andrew Robinson
LHP Alex Sogard
1B Japhet Amador
SS Nolan Fontana
3B Jonathan Meyer
OF Delino DeShields (converting from 2B)
The first game will be this afternoon with Peoria taking on Surprise at 2:35 CST. Updates on the game should be available here.
The Liga Venezuela Beisbol Profesional will start play on Thursday and the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico starts play on Friday. There are no rosters posted yet for Venezuela. When there are, I will update my ongoing fall/winter roster list and post a permanent link on the front page of the blog. The only Astros player that I've seen on a roster from Mexico at this point is RHP Gonzalo Sanudo who will be playing for the Tomateros de Culiacan.
