I'm back.

Oklahoma City 4, Reno 2

W- Rudy Owens (3-4)
L- Trevor Cahill (0-1)
S- Jason Stoffel (7)

OKC home runs: Carlos Perez (4, 3-run in 2nd)

The RedHawks only scored in 1 inning, but their 4-run 2nd proved to be enough as their pitchers held the Aces in check as well.

Gregorio Petit opened the scoring with an RBI single, and one batter later, Carlos Perez delivered the haymaker with his 3-run shot. Petit was the only RedHawk with a multi-hit night as he finished 2-4.

Rudy Owens threw 5 shutout innings, allowing 5 hits, walking 1, and striking out 5. Jorge De Leon threw a scoreless 6th and got 2 outs in the 7th, but he was knocked out by a 2-run double that constituted the Aces' only runs of the evening. He allowed 2 other hits in his outing. Kevin Chapman got OKC out of the inning by getting Mike Jacobs to ground out. The other out that he recorded was a strikeout in the 8th, and then he gave way to Jason Stoffel. The first thing that Stoffel did was induce an inning-ending double play. The first 2 batters reached on him in the 9th, but he buckled down and slammed the door for the save.

Game 2 of this series features the team of Asher Wojciechowski and David Martinez on the hill. They'll take on Andrew Chafin at 9:05*.

*All times Central.

San Antonio 3, Corpus Christi 0

W- Luis De La Cruz (3-5)
L- Travis Ballew (4-2)

CC home runs: None.

In the first game of the 2nd half, 15 zeros were put on the board until Casey McElroy opened the scoring in the bottom of the 8th with a 3-run homer that turned out to be the difference for the Missions.

The Hooks were held to 3 hits as they were blanked for a 2nd straight game; Nolan Fontana's double was their only extra-base hit.

Luis Cruz started off with 4.1 scoreless and allowed 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. Jordan Jankowski followed that up by throwing 2.2 perfect innings, striking out 1. Travis Ballew was dinged by that homer; 2 of those 3 runs were earned. He allowed 1 other hit and struck out 2 in the 8th.

A couple of lefties will take the mound in the series finale; Tommy Shirley will take on Juan Oramas at 7:05.

California/Carolina League All-Star Game: California 3, Carolina 2

It was a tough night for Lancaster's position players, but who cares? It's an All-Star game. Tony Kemp went 0-2 with a strikeout, Teoscar Hernandez finished 0-4 with a run scored and 2 strikeouts, Carlos Correa was 0-2 with a strikeout, and Roberto Peña was 0-1.

How did the 2 JetHawks hurlers fare? Kyle Westwood tossed a 1-2-3 4th on just 5 pitches (3 strikes), and Josh Hader allowed a run (on a groundout), a hit (a triple), walked 1, and struck out 2 in the 5th.

Lancaster will be back in action on Thursday, when they begin a 4-game series in Lake Elsinore.

Midwest League All-Star Game: West 7, East 0

So... the West absolutely laid waste to the East in West Michigan.

Brett Phillips started in right field and went 1-3 with an RBI groundout and a stolen base. Chan-Jong Moon entered the game in the top of the 6th to play 2B and went 0-2.

Tyler Brunnemann threw a 1-2-3 6th and it took him just 8 pitches (5 strikes) to do so.

Quad Cities will begin the 2nd half of their season by hosting Peoria for 4 beginning on Thursday.

Lowell 2, Tri-City 1

W- Willie Ethington (2-0)
L- Francis Ramirez (0-1)
S- Carlos Pinales (2)

TC home runs: None.

The ValleyCats outhit Lowell 7-4, but they only had 1 run to show for it. That 1 run came on an RBI double from Mott Hyde in the 6th. Alex Hernandez was the only player on either side to have a multi-hit game; he went 2-3 with a walk.

Francis Ramirez went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Sebastian Kessay struck out 4 over 2 perfect innings, and a couple of 2014 draftees made their pro debuts: Ryan Thompson (23) actually faced a bases-loaded situation in the 8th, but tightroped his way out of the inning, striking out 1. Derick Velazquez (7) struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 9th inning.

Tri-City will head out to Vermont for 2 with the Lake Monsters. In game 1, Austin Chrismon will take on Joe Michaud at 6:05.

DSL Rays 3, DSL Astros Blue 2

W- Diego Castillo (2-0)
L- Gabriel Valdez (2-1)

Blue home runs: None.

A 9th-inning run for the Rays nipped the Blue team.

They were down 2-0 after the 1st, but they managed to tie with a run in the 6th, and 1 more in the 7th. Nestor Tejada hit an RBI single in the 6th, and then Edgar Lorenzo scored the tying run in the 7th on a passed ball/error. Connor MacDonald and Marcos Almonte had 2 hits apiece.

Albert Abreu went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Gabriel Valdez allowed the go-ahead run in the 9th, which ruined an otherwise solid day for him. He pitched 3 innings and allowed 2 hits while striking out 3.

Both of these teams will be at it again at 9:30 A.M.

DSL Astros Orange 10, DSL Rangers2 9

W- Carlos Sanabria (1-0)
L- Jorge Mancebo (0-1)
S- Juan Cuevas (2)

Orange home runs: Wilson Amador (1, 2-run in 4th)

The Orange team has scored double-digit runs in 8 of their 15 games so far. In this game, they had to withstand a 5-run 5th to get the win.

Everyone in the lineup had an RBI except for Andy Piñeda, who went 3-4 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and a steal (4). He was joined in the 3-hit club by Bryan De La Cruz and Gabriel Bracamonte. Rodrigo Ayarza and Wilson Amador had 2 hits apiece.

Amador opened the scoring when he came home on a sac fly from Vicente Sanchez in the 1st. He added an RBI single in the 3rd but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Osvaldo Duarte and Rodrigo Ayarza had RBI doubles in the inning, and Bracamonte chipped in with an RBI triple. Amador's homer in the 4th constituted the Orange team's scoring in the inning. In the 7th, Jesus Bermejo hit a sac fly, and Anardo Peralta had an RBI infield single. Peralta, an 18-year-old from Azua, in the Dominican Republic, was playing his first game. De La Cruz hit an RBI single for the Orange team's last run of the morning.

Adonis Peña allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7 in 4 innings of work. Antonio Almonte, who was in his first game as well, had a tough go of it; he only got 1 out in the 5th and allowed 5 runs (2 inherited runners charged to him) on 3 hits and walked 3. Carlos Sanabria pitched 2.2 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned, 1 inherited runner charged to him), 1 hit, walked 3, and fanned 2. Juan Cuevas got the 2-inning save, allowing 2 hits, walking 1, and striking out 4.

These two will go at it again at 9:30 A.M.
