Astros Minor League Snapshot

We are now 11 weeks in to the minor league season. Let's take a look at where things stand.

OKLAHOMA CITY

2nd    40-34    .541    1.5GB    L1

The Redhawks are currently one and a half games behind first place Omaha and three games up on the third place Iowa Cubs in the American Northern Division. They split the first two of the four-game series against Reno (41-32) and will play two more against that team on the road (40-32) followed by four in Tacoma (33-39). Those teams are currently in second and fourth place, respectively, in the Pacific Northern Division and the RedHawks are facing each of those teams for the first time this season. Oklahoma City will then have the day off on Wednesday before returning to play within their division on Thursday.

CORPUS CHRISTI

For the season:

For the second half:

In the South Division, the Hooks get a fresh start in the second half, but are still scuffling. After losing the first two games of the second half, they are currently in fourth place, two games behind San Antonio. The Hooks host Frisco (40-30) for four games starting today. They are 6-10 against Frisco for the season series. That will be followed by a very brief two-day All-Star Break before heading to Springfield (36-36) for three. They lead the season series against Springfield 4-2.

LANCASTER

For the season:

After clinching the first half title and a playoff berth, the JetHawks start the second half of the season tonight. Four in Lake Elsinore (40-30) are followed by three at home against Stockton (37-33). The 'Hawks lead the season series with Lake Elsinore 11-4. They have not faced Stockton yet this season.

QUAD CITIES

For the season:

Quad Cities, on the other hand, did not earn a playoff berth in the first half and will get a chance to start over with the second half of the season tonight as they host Peoria (37-32) for four at home. Quad Cities and Peoria are tied 3-3 for the season series. That will be followed by an off-day on Monday before starting a three-game series at Clinton (30-38) on Tuesday. The River Bandits trail that season series 2-4.

TRI-CITY

The ValleyCats fell out of a tie for first with their loss to Vermont last night and now trail that team by one game. They will try to salvage a split in the two-game series tonight before heading to Lowell for three games. Tri-City has already faced Lowell and has a 1-1 record against them. The 'Cats will host Vermont for two starting Monday and then will head back to Lowell yet again on Wednesday. Yes, the 'Cats will face Lowell seven times in an 11 game stretch.

GREENEVILLE

The Rookie League Greeneville Astros will start their season on Thursday at home, playing three against Elizabethton and three against Princeton before hitting the road for Danville.

The Gulf Coast League Astros will start their season at home on Friday in Kissimmee.
