No future Astros with birthdays today, but a few former Astros celebrate ~
RHP Lucas Harrell (29)
Originally drafted by the White Sox in the 4th round in 2004, Harrell was claimed off waivers from that organization in July of 2011. In 77 games (59 starts) for the Astros from 2011 to 2014, he was 17-33 with a 4.81 ERA and a 1.535 WHIP. In April of 2014, Harrell was shifted to the Diamondbacks for a PTBNL (just seeing if anyone is paying attention).
1B Jim "Diamond Jim" Gentile (80)
Gentile was received in a trade from the Kansas City Athletics and played in 130 games for Houston in 1965 and 1966, hitting .243/.353/.412. His best years, by far, were spent in Baltimore where he was an three time All-Star. In 1961, he came in third in AL MVP voting behind Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle as he hit .302/.423/.646 with 46 home runs and tied with Roger Maris for the AL lead in RBIs at 141.
1B Jose Tolentino (53)
Drafted by Oakland in the 7th round in 1983, Tolentino signed with Houston as a free agent in 1988. He only played in 44 games in the majors for Houston in 1990, hitting .259/.305/.389. He coached for the Mexican team in the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
OF Carl Everett (43)
A first round pick by the Yankees in 1990, Everett came to Houston via the Mets in a December 1997 trade for RHP John Hudek. He played two seasons for Houston in 1998 and 1999 with a batting line of .310/.378/.526. He was a two time All-Star in 2000 and 2003.
