GCL doubleheader!
Oklahoma City and Nashville was postponed
A doubleheader is scheduled for today, with the 1st game beginning at 4:05. In game 1, Alex White will take on Michael Blazek. Asher Wojciechowski will face Ariel Peña in game 2.

The Hooks took the opener as Luis Cruz stifled the Roughriders offense.
Cruz allowed an unearned run on 2 hits and struck out 3 in 5 innings. Brady Rodgers gave up a solo homer to Chris Grayson with 2 outs in the 9th. He went 3.2 innings and allowed one other hit, walked 1, and struck out 3. Tyson Perez got the final out of the game.
Delino DeShields went 1-2 with 2 walks and 2 steals (38). After hitting a single in the 4th, he stole his way to 3rd and scored Corpus' first run on a sac fly from Andrew Aplin. In the 5th, M.P. Cokinos smashed an RBI double and Carlos Perdomo scored on a wild pitch.
In game 2 of this series, Colton Cain will take on Chi Chi Gonzalez at 7:05.
Visalia 14, Lancaster 9

Lancaster home runs: Tanner Mathis (1, 3-run in 2nd), Conrad Gregor 2 (11, 12 season; 3-run in 5th, 2-run in 8th)
The JetHawks were doomed by a 5-run 7th from Visalia.
The 2 3-run homers from Mathis in the 2nd and Gregor in the 5th resulted in a 6-6 tie after the 5th. Gregor finished 4-5, a double shy of the cycle, and added a 2-run shot in the 8th inning. Roberto Peña went 2-4 with a double and a sac fly in the 7th, after Gregor tripled to lead off the inning. Tyler White, in his JetHawks debut, went 2-4 with 2 runs scored.
Lance McCullers went 3.2 innings and allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. Zach Morton was the first man out; he pitched 2.2 innings and gave up 7 runs (6 earned, 2 inherited runners charged to him) on 4 hits (solo homer), walked 3, and struck out 1. Juan Minaya went 2.2 innings and allowed 5 runs (all on homers) on 7 hits (2 solos and a 3-run homer) and struck out 2.
The JetHawks will look to avoid the sweep as Kyle Westwood will take on TBA at 8:30.

QC home runs: Chase McDonald (7, solo in 6th)
The River Bandits nearly clawed back from a 5-0 deficit as they scored 4 unanswered, but the TinCaps put them away with 2 in the top of the 8th.
They got on the board in the 4th with 3 RBI singles from Ronnie Mitchell, McDonald, and Jose Fernandez. McDonald finished 2-4 and added a solo home run in the 6th inning. Fernandez and Brett Phillips both finished 2-3.
Andrew Thurman pitched 4 innings and allowed 5 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits (solo and 3-run homers), walked 1, and struck out 3. Chris Lee threw 3 scoreless and allowed a hit, walked 2, and struck out 1. Frederick Tiburcio allowed 2 runs on 3 hits (solo homer) and walked 1 as he only got 1 out in the 8th. Albert Minnis allowed a hit over 1.2 scoreless.
Quad Cities will look to avoid a sweep as Jandel Gustave will face TBA at 7:00.

The ValleyCats turned a 3-1 deficit into a 6-3 lead after putting up a 5-spot in the 8th.
Ricky Gingras opened up the scoring with a bases-loaded walk in the 1st. That was the only Tri-City run until the 8th, when....
Adam Nelubowich and D.J. Fisher reached on errors from Hector Veloz. Nick Tanielu kicked things off with an RBI single. A Gingras single loaded the bases. Mott Hyde tied the game with a bases-loaded walk, and Ariel Ovando gave TC the lead with a sac fly. Jamie Ritchie came on as a pinch-hitter and promptly hit an RBI single. Bobby Boyd finished the inning with an RBI single. Ritchie got caught at home to end the inning, but the ValleyCats did the damage. Boyd and Tanielu had 2 hits apiece.
Luis Ordosgoitti went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. Raul Rivera worked around a hit to throw a scoreless 5th, striking out 2. Chris Munnelly went 3 and allowed an unearned run on an error, a single, walked 3, and struck out 6. Ryan Thompson allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in the 9th.
The ValleyCats will look for the sweep as Troy Scribner will face TBA at 6:00.

The Appy Astros were held to 3 hits as they ended up dropping the series.
Yonathan Mejia had 2 of the hits; Jason Martin had the other. Martin is now on a 12-game hitting streak.
Austin Nicely pitched 4 innings and allowed 4 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits and walked 2. Jorge Perez was the first man out; he went 2.2 innings and allowed 4 runs (1 earned, 2 inherited runners charged to him) on 5 hits and struck out 2. Aaron Greenwood allowed 2 hits and struck out 3 over 1.1 innings.
The Appy Astros will look to avoid the sweep as a couple of Hawaiians will take the mound. Robert Kahana of Ewa Beach will take on Joey Aquino of Mililani. First pitch is at 6:05.

The Astros' lone run came on an Osvaldo Duarte groundout in the 5th.
Vince Velasquez allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. John Gatlin pitched an inning (last out of the 3rd, 2 outs of the 4th) and allowed 2 hits and walked 2. Harold Arauz pitched 2.1 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5.
What did game 2 have in store for the Kissimmee Stros?
Game 2: GCL Astros 3, GCL Phillies 2 in 8 innings

L- Seranthony Dominguez (0-2)
GCL home runs: None.
The Kissimmee Stros walked off with the win and the split as Brauly Mejia hit a walk-off infield single in the botttom of the 8th.
Edwin Medina went 3-3 with 2 runs scored and 4 stolen bases (13). They got a pair in the 3rd on a sac fly from Hector Roa and Medina scored on a wild pitch.
Junior Garcia went 3 innings and allowed a solo homer to Jose Pujols in the 2nd. He allowed 2 other hits and struck out 1. Christian Perdomo also allowed a solo homer to Pujols in the 4th. He walked 3 while only getting 1 out in the 4th via strikeout. He gave way to Justin Ferrell, who navigated his way out of a bases-loaded situation that he inherited from Perdomo. Ferrell pitched 2.2 innings and allowed a hit and struck out 2. Samil De Los Santos worked around a hit and a walk to throw a scoreless 7th. Juan Delis struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 8th.
The Kissimmee Stros are at home, where they'll take on the Yankees 1.
DSL Indians 6, DSL Astros Blue 3

Blue home runs: None.
The Blue team was beaten thanks to a stretch of 5 unanswered runs from the Indians from the 2nd to the 5th innings.
All the Blue team's runs came on 2 doubles from Jake Bowey. He put them on the board in the 1st, and then he ripped a 2-run double in the 8th.
Erasmo Pinales pitched 4 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits (solo homer), walked 2, and struck out 3. Luis Ramirez got 1 out in the 5th and allowed 2 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him), a hit, and walked 3. Gabriel Valdez went 3.2 innings and allowed a run on 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1.
Both teams are facing off at the Astros complex.
DSL Yankees2 7, DSL Astros Orange 6

Orange home runs: None.
The Orange team led 5-2 after 2 innings, but they were on the wrong end of a 5-1 run the rest of the way.
Frankeny Fernandez put the Orange team on the board with a sac fly in the 1st. The Yankees caught Edgar Lorenzo stealing in the 2nd, and Orlando Marquez looked to sneak in with a run as they got Lorenzo. An error allowed him to score. Jose Benjamin and Anardo Peralta both scored on errors. Marquez added an RBI single in the 6th.
Abdiel Saldaña went 5 innings and allowed 5 runs on 6 hits (2-run homer), walked 1, and struck out 5. Edwin Villarroel went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits and struck out 4.
Both teams are currently in a game at the Yankees complex.
