No future Astros with birthdays today, but a few former Astros celebrate the day ~
SS Bert Pena (55)
Pena was first signed as a non-drafted free agent out of Puerto Rico by Houston in 1977 and he spent his entire career as an Astro. In very limited playing time (only 88 games over six seasons), Pena hit .203/.268/.248.
LHP Ron Cook (67)
A converted outfielder, Cook pitched for the Astros for two seasons. In 46 games over 1970 and 1971, he went 4-8 with a 4.00 ERA and a 1.417 WHIP.
RHP Donne Wall (47)
An 18th round pick by Houston in 1989, Wall pitched in 40 games (36 starts) for the Astros from 1995 to 1997. He was 14-14 with a 5.00 ERA and a 1.440 WHIP.
RHP Yorman Bazardo (30)
Bazardo joined Houston as a free agent in April of 2009. Although he put up decent numbers with the AAA affiliate that season (9-6 with a 3.20 ERA and a 1.133 WHIP), it didn't really translate in his 10 appearances in Houston later that season as he was 1-3 with a 7.88 ERA and a 1.844 WHIP. Bazardo is currently pitching for Reynosa in the Mexican League.
Bert Pena is Lancaster Jethawks catcher Roberto Pena's father
