Originally drafted by the Twins in the second round in 2002, Crain signed with Houston as a free agent on December 31, 2013 in order to bolster the Astros bullpen. Alas, he is recovering from biceps surgery and remains stranded on Weiland Island.
Manager Marquis Donnell "Bo" Porter (41)
Porter was announced as the 21st Manager in Astros franchise history on September 27, 2012. He inherited a rebuilding team that had lost 213 games in the prior two seasons. His current record as manager is 87-163. As my friend Beth would say, "Bless his heart."
One former Astro with a birthday today ~
OF/1B Curt Blefary (died January 28, 2001 at 57)
Obtained in a trade with Baltimore on December 4, 1968 and traded away to the Yankees exactly one year later, Blefary played in 155 games for Houston in 1969, hitting .253/.347/.393. Blefary was the AL Rookie of the Year in 1965 while playing for Baltimore. He also sported a rather spectacular unibrow.
