The RedHawks took 3 of 4 from the Grizzlies thanks to a 5-run 3rd inning.
Joe Sclafani opened the scoring with a 2-run triple in that 3rd inning. He would score on a Jesus Guzman fielder's choice, and one batter later, Preston Tucker sent one out for the 24th time this season. Tucker added a sac fly in the 8th inning. Guzman was the only player on either side with a multi-hit game as he went 2-4 with a double and scored on Tucker's homer. Sclafani scored 2 runs.
Asher Wojciechowski pitched 7 strong innings, and the only blunder he made was allowing a 2-run homer to Chris Dominguez in the 4th. Those 2 runs were unearned. He allowed 2 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. Richard Rodriguez allowed a hit and struck out 1 in a scoreless 8th, and Jorge De Leon worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 1.
Corpus Christi 2, Arkansas 1

CC home runs: None.
The Hooks were held to 2 hits, but they walked off with the win as they scored their 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th.
Tony Kemp walked to lead off the bottom of the 9th, and then he moved over to 2nd on a sac bunt from Teoscar Hernandez. Delino DeShields also walked, but he was forced out at 2nd on a Colin Moran groundball. Moran reached safely. The Hooks' 2nd hit of the game won it for them; Telvin Nash smashed a double which allowed Kemp to trot home and Moran to score all the way from 1st.
Mark Appel allowed a solo homer to Kaleb Cowart in the 5th. He went 6 innings and allowed 4 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. Jordan Jankowski rendered the Travs offense useless by allowing just 1 hit while striking out 8 over 3 scoreless.
Bakersfield 6, Lancaster 5

Lancaster home runs: None.
The JetHawks walked off with the loss after Jeff Gelalich won the game for the Blaze with a 2-run double off of Jamaine Cotton.
Danry Vásquez finished 3-4 and opened up the scoring with an RBI double in the 2nd. Later in the inning, Chan-Jong Moon reached on a bases-clearing error which gave Lancaster a 4-0 lead. The Blaze scored 2 in the bottom of the 2nd and 2 more in the to tie the game, and then Danry added an RBI single in the top of the 9th to give the JetHawks the lead again. The other JetHawks hit was a Jon Kemmer double.
Zach Morton pitched 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and struck out 4. Dan Minor was the first man out; he threw 2 scoreless, allowing a hit, walking 1, and striking out 3. Andrew Walter got 1 out in the 8th and allowed 2 unearned runs (1 inherited runner charged to him), 1 of which came on an RBI double. Jamaine Cotton got the final 2 outs of the 8th, 1 via strikeout, with an RBI double sandwiched in between. He came on for the 9th, but failed to record an out in the inning.
Burlington 6, Quad Cities 5

The Banditos were stung by a 4-run 7th from the Bees.
Bobby Boyd scored the first QC run on a wild pitch in the 4th. Marc Wik reached on an error that allowed 2 runs to score in the 6th. Chase McDonald scored on a wild pitch/Wik walk in the 8th, and Boyd, who finished 2-5 with a steal (2, 15 season) hit an RBI groundout in the bottom of the 9th.
Blaine Sims allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3 in 4 innings. Chris Lee tagged in for 3 innings and allowed 4 runs (3 earned, all on a grand slam) on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. Albert Minnis allowed 2 hits and fanned 3 over 2 scoreless.
Tri-City 5, Staten Island 2

The ValleyCats scored a pair in the 5th to break a 2-2 tie, and the bullpen finished the game by putting up 4 scoreless.
Alex Presley tripled to lead off the game and scored the game's first run on a groundout from Jamie Ritchie. In the 2nd, Ariel Ovando scored on a passed ball. Mott Hyde put the ValleyCats on top with a 2-run double in the 5th. Ritchie hit a triple with 2 outs in the 8th and scored on a passed ball. D.J. Fisher went 2-5.
Austin Chrismon allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and struck out 5 in 5 innings. Brandon McNitt was the first man out; he went 2 innings and allowed 2 hits and struck out 3. In his NYPL debut, Angel Heredia struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 8th. The Closer, Ryan Thompson, worked around a walk to close it out.
Greeneville 5, Elizabethton 3

The Appy Astros avoided the sweep as they got a fine first start from Elieser Hernandez.
Hernandez allowed 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6 over 5 shutout innings. Reymin Guduan allowed 3 runs on 6 hits while striking out 1 over 2 innings. Juan Delis threw 1.1 perfect innings, striking out 1, and Zach Davis got the final 2 outs of the game, striking out 1.
Nottingham's home run opened up the scoring. Edwin Medina added an RBI single in the 5th. A sac bunt attempt from Kristian Trompiz in the 7th was fielded and then botched, allowing Hector Roa to score. One batter later, Tony Nuñez executed the squeeze to score Cesar Carrasco. Sean McMullen scored on a wild pitch/error in the 8th.

The Pirates nipped the Kissimmee Stros with a run in the 7th.
The GCLstros' 2 runs came in 6th as Jean Estrella hit an RBI double. Estrella would score on a single from Brauly Mejia. Brian Peña and Nestor Tejada had 2 hits apiece.
Harold Arauz allowed 2 runs (1 earned), a single, walked 1, and struck out 5. Ambiorix De Leon walked 1 and struck out 2 in the 3rd. Gerardo Juarez allowed a hit and struck out 2 in the 4th. J.D. Osborne allowed a hit and struck out 1 in the 5th. Kyle Gehrs allowed a hit and issued a walk in a scoreless 6th. Christian Perdomo gave up the go-ahead run on 2 hits and struck out 2 in the 7th, and Daniel Mengden struck out 4 over 2 perfect innings.

The RedHawks erupted late to take the series opener as they put up 5 in the top of the 9th.
Preston Tucker put OKC on the board first with an RBI groundout in the 1st. After the RiverCats put up their 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st, Matt Duffy tied the game at 2 by leading off the 2nd with his 18th home run of the season.
Ronald Torreyes was 2-3 and sparked the rally with a double. He moved to 3rd on a bunt single from Jonathan Villar and scored the go-ahead run on a sac fly from Jesus Guzman. Villar stole 2nd (18, 32 season) and Joe Sclafani walked; they also tagged up on Guzman's sac fly. Tucker got a free pass to 1st, and then Andrew Aplin walked Villar home. Duffy came up and hit a fly ball to Sacramento CF Shane Peterson, who completely botched it, which resulted in the bases clearing for 3 more runs.
Alex White allowed a solo homer to Shane Peterson in the 1st. The only other hit he allowed in his 7 innings was a double to Peterson in the 7th. He walked 2 (1 intentionally) and struck out 7. Jason Stoffel pitched the final 2 innings, allowing a hit, walking 1, and striking out 1.
In game 2 of this series, Rudy Owens will face Deck McGuire at 7:05.
Corpus Christi 8, Arkansas 5

The Hooks jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the 4th and withstood an assault from the Travs to take the series.
Telvin Nash became the 2nd Astros farmhand to hit 20 homers this season with his 2-run shot in the 1st. In the 2nd, Teoscar Hernandez hit a 2-run single, and Colin Moran added an RBI single of his own. Moran added a sac fly to his ledger in the 4th, and Nash followed that up with an RBI single. Delino DeShields hit an RBI single in the 8th for the Hooks' final run of the night. Nash and Moran had 3 hits apiece, while Teoscar and René Garcia had 2 each. DeShields was 1-3 with 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and a steal (48).
Brady Rodgers cruised through his first 5 innings, but ran into trouble in the 6th as he allowed a couple of 2-run homers in the inning to Brian Hernandez and Anderson De La Rosa. Rodgers allowed 6 other hits (5 singles and a double) and struck out 6 in 5.2 innings. Colton Cain walked 3 and struck out 2 over 2 scoreless, and Mitch Lambson got the final 4 outs of the game, allowing a run on 3 hits. The run he allowed in the 9th snapped a string of 7 scoreless appearances spanning 9.2 innings.
The Hooks will look for the sweep at 6:10. Considering that Colton Cain made an appearance in this game, I doubt he'll be starting tonight. Whoever starts for the Hooks will face Orangel Arenas. Also, don't forget that they were swept by the Travs last weekend.

The JetHawks had 6 hits as they were blanked for the 7th time this season. Rio Ruiz's double was their only extra-base hit.
Evan Grills went 4+ innings and allowed 5 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits (3-run homer) and struck out 1. He faced 3 batters in the 5th and failed to retire any of them. Gonzalo Sañudo retired all 3 men he faced in the 5th, striking out 1. Brian Holmes pitched the final 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 3.
Kyle Westwood will take on Ismael Guillon in game 3 of this series. First pitch is at 2:00.
Quad Cities 7, Burlington 6

The River Bandits scored in only 2 innings, and it got a bit too close for comfort, but they hung on and got the win.
The Bees took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the 2nd, but the Bandits busted out for 4 to take the lead. They got 4 RBI singles from Ryan Bottger (infield), Dayne Parker, Chase McDonald, and A.J. Reed. In the 6th, Brian Holberton scored on a botched force out attempt, McDonald hit another RBI single, and J.D. Davis smacked an RBI double. McDonald went 4-5, while Davis was 2-5. Bobby Boyd went 0-4, but he drew a walk, scored 2 runs, and stole 2 bases (4, 17 season).
Michael Feliz allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2 in 4 innings. Frederick Tiburcio gave up 3 runs (2 inherited runners charged to him) on 3 hits and walked 1 in 1.1 innings. Chris Cotton allowed both of the runners he inherited from Tiburcio to score, but he was able to close out the game. He pitched 2.2 innings and allowed a hit while striking out 4.
Adrian Houser will start the series finale. First pitch is at 1:15.
Tri-City 6, Staten Island 1

The ValleyCats rolled again as Joe Musgrove continued his outstanding season.
Musgrove allowed just 1 hit and struck out 4 over 6 shutout innings. The Yankees spoiled the shutout when Ty McFarland homered off Chris Munnelly in the 7th. Munnelly allowed one other hit and struck out 1 in the inning. Bryan Radziewski walked 1 and struck out 2 to finish it off.
Nick Tanielu opened up the scoring with an RBI single in the 3rd. Gonzalez's homer came with 2 outs in the 4th. D.J. Fisher led off the 8th with his first home run as a pro. Juan Santana added an RBI single in the 9th, and Fisher followed with an RBI double. Fisher and Santana had 2 hits apiece.
The ValleyCats will look for the sweep as Luis Ordosgoitti takes on Ty Hensley at 3:00.
Kingsport 4, Greeneville 3

The Appy Astros got on the board and took a 3-1 lead after 7 innings..... only to see the Mets walk off with the win after 3 of their own in the bottom of the 9th.
The 3 Greeneville runs in the 7th came without a hit. Tony Nuñez and Edwin Medina drew bases-loaded walks, and Yonathan Mejia grounded into a force out to score Alex Melendez. Kristian Trompiz's double was their only extra-base hit.
Dean Deetz went 4 innings and allowed an unearned run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Brock Dykxhoorn tagged in for 3 scoreless, allowing a hit, walking 1, and striking out 4. In his Appy League debut, Samil De Los Santos threw a 1-2-3 8th with 2 strikeouts, but he couldn't close it out. Vicente Lupo stole home with 2 outs for the winning run. De Los Santos allowed 3 runs on 3 hits and struck out 4 in 1.2 innings.
The series shifts to Greeneville, for some odd reason. Agapito Barrios will take on Gaby Almonte at 5:00.

The Kissimmee Stros snapped their 6-game losing streak.
Dex McCall hit his first career home run in the 2nd to open the scoring. In the 3rd, Brauly Mejia hit an RBI double, and Luis Payano provided some insurance with a 2-run homer in the 6th. McCall and Payano had 2 hits apiece, while Randy Cesar was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a run scored.
Ross Seaton went 5 innings and allowed a run on 4 hits and struck out 4. Yhoan Acosta allowed 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2 over 4 scoreless.

Erasmo Pinales went 5 innings and allowed an unearned run on an error, walked 1, and struck out 5. Enrique Chavez struck out 3 over 2 perfect innings, and Luis Ramirez allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 2 over 1.1 innings for the win.

The Orange team busted it open with 5 in the bottom of the 8th.
Orlando Marquez opened the scoring with a sac fly that turned into a double play in the 1st. The Orange team got a pair in the 3rd as Reiny Beltre hit an RBI groundout and Felix Lucas hit an RBI single. Marquez added an RBI double in the 7th, and then he scored on an error. Jesus Bermejo, Wilson Amador, and Juan Fuentes added RBI singles later in the inning. Fuentes went 3-3 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and stole a base (10). Amador, Jose Benjamin, and Anardo Peralta had 2 hits apiece.
Edwin Villarroel allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and struck out 3 in 6 innings. Abdiel Saldaña allowed a hit and fanned 3 over 1.2 innings.
