Round Rock 6, Oklahoma City 5

W- Spencer Patton (5-3)

OKC home runs: None.

The RedHawks walked off with the loss and a series split after Josh Wilson's RBI single in the bottom of the 9th broke a 5-5 tie.

Jonathan Villar put the RedHawks on the board by scoring on an error in the 3rd. Later in the inning, Matt Duffy ripped an RBI double and Preston Tucker added a sac fly. Duffy added a sac fly to his line in the 5th, and grounded into a force out that scored Villar in the 7th. Villar and Ronald Torreyes (3B) both finished 2-5 with 2 runs scored. Duffy went 2-3, and in his AAA debut, Andrew Aplin went 2-4.

Rudy Owens went 5.1 innings and allowed 4 runs (2 inherited runners charged to him) on 8 hits (solo homer), walked 3, and struck out 3. Anthony Bass was the first man out; he went 1.1 innings and allowed a 2-run homer to Michael Choice in the 6th, resulting in one of the 2 inherited runners scoring. He allowed one other hit and struck out 2. Tommy Shirley allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3 over 1.1 scoreless. Pat Urckfitz got 1 out in the 9th, but left the bases loaded for Jason Stoffel, who was unable to avert disaster.

Tonight, OKC will begin a 4-game series with Colorado Springs. Nick Tropeano will get the start; first pitch is at 7:05.

Midland 7, Corpus Christi 4

CC home runs: None.

The Rockhounds burst out for 4 in the bottom of the 5th right after the Hooks opened up the scoring with a pair in the top of the 5th.

Conrad Gregor went 2-3 and put Corpus on the board first with an RBI double in the 5th. Later in the inning, Delino DeShields drew a bases-loaded walk. Gregor added an RBI single to his ledger in the 8th, and later on in that frame, René Garcia scored on a wild pitch. Garcia finished 2-4, while Leo Heras walked twice and scored twice. In his organizational debut, Colin Moran went 1-5 with a double.

Kyle Smith went 5 and allowed 4 runs on 7 hits (2-run homer) and struck out 3. R.J. Alaniz went 2 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out 2. Kyle Weiland allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in the 8th.

Luis Cruz will face Shawn Haviland in game 3 of this series. First pitch is at 7:00.

Lancaster 6, Lake Elsinore 2

Lancaster home runs: Tyler White (2, 9 season; solo in 2nd), Jon Kemmer (6, 10 season; 2-run in 3rd)

The JetHawks got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 5-0 lead after the first third of the game.

Teoscar Hernandez hit a double with 1 out in the 1st and scored the game's first run on a single from Rio Ruiz. White's homer led off the bottom of the 2nd, and later on in the frame, Tanner Mathis grounded into a force out that scored Jack Mayfield. Hernandez walked to begin the bottom of the 3rd and found himself on base for Kemmer, who nearly sent one onto the freeway. Ronnie Mitchell hit an RBI single in the 8th. Teoscar reached base safely in all 4 of his plate appearances, going 2-2 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored. White finished.... a triple shy of the cycle in 4 at-bats.

Matt Heidenreich went 5 innings and allowed a run on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. Kent Emanuel pitched the final 4 innings and allowed a run on 6 hits and struck out 2.

In game 3 of this series, Josh Hader will take on Elliot Morris at 8:00.

Kane County 6, Quad Cities 2

W- Tyler Ihrig (1-0)
L- Blaine Sims (2-3, 3-3 season)

QC home runs: None.

The River Bandits were mauled in the 2nd, when they gave up 6 runs.

Their 2 runs came in the 6th on an A.J. Reed RBI groundout and a J.D. Davis RBI single. James Ramsay went 2-3 with 2 steals (24) and a run scored.

Blaine Sims went 3 innings and allowed 6 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. Chris Cotton worked around a hit to throw a scoreless 4th, striking out 1. Edison Frias tagged in for 4 scoreless, allowing 4 hits and striking out 6.

In the middle game of this series, Kevin Comer will get the start. First pitch is at 6:30.

Tri-City 7, Mahoning Valley 4

W- Aaron Vaughn (2-0, 2-1 season)
L- Anthony Vizcaya (1-5)

TC home runs: Jake Rodriguez (1, 2 season; solo in 4th), Terrell Joyce (5, walk-off 3-run in 9th)

The ValleyCats avoided the sweep as they walked off with the victory, thanks to Terrell Joyce's 3-run blast.

Jose Solano put TC on the board with an RBI single in the 3rd. One batter later, Mott Hyde added a 2-run double. Rodriguez's homer led off the bottom of the 4th. Joyce and Hyde had 2 hits apiece.

Jay Gause allowed a solo homer to Leo Castillo in the 1st. He went 2 innings and allowed 2 other hits and fanned 1. Luis Ordosgoitti went 4.2 innings and allowed 3 runs (1 earned, 1 inherited runner charged to him) on 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. Aaron Vaughn went 2.1 innings and allowed 2 hits while striking out 3.

The ValleyCats will begin a 3-game set with the Batavia Muckdogs tonight. Troy Scribner will face Gabriel Castellanos at 6:00.

Greeneville 4, Johnson City 1

W- Austin Nicely (2-5)
L- Dailyn Martinez (3-2)
S- Eric Peterson (3)

Greeneville home runs: None.

A 4-run 2nd turned out to be the difference for the Appy Astros.

Jason Martin had a hand in all 4 of those runs; he cleared the bases with a double and scored on a wild pitch. Hector Roa went 2-4 with a double and scored on Martin's double.

Austin Nicely went 6 innings and allowed an unearned run on 3 hits and walked 3. Zach Davis threw 2 scoreless, allowing 2 hits, walking 1, and striking out 2. Eric Peterson struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 9th to finish it off.

In the rubber game of this series, Robert Kahana will take on Landon Beck. First pitch is at 5:00.

GCL Phillies 10, GCL Astros 6

W- Alexis Rivero (2-0)
L- Cristhopher Santamaria (2-1, 3-2 season)
S- Nick Rodesky (1)

GCL home runs: None.

The Kissimmee Stros were put away by a 3-run bottom of the 8th which gave the Phillies the separation they needed.

Alex Melendez scored on an error on a sac bunt in the 1st. They got a pair in the 3rd on an Arturo Michelena single and a Brauly Mejia sac fly. In the 4th, Joan Mauricio and Melendez added RBI singles. Melendez, who finished 2-4, stole home (17) in the 7th. Mauricio went 2-4, while Payano finished 3-4 with 2 runs scored.

Cristhopher Santamaria went 3 innings and allowed 6 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and struck out 3. Christian Perdomo allowed a run on a hit, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 2 innings. Joselo Pinales allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2 in 3 innings.

These two teams are currently in a game in Kissimmee.

DSL Astros Blue 4, DSL Royals 3

W- Jose Rosario (2-4)
L- Arnaldo Hernandez (2-2)

Blue home runs: None.

The Blue team topped the Royals despite getting outhit 6-4.

Marcos Almonte scored on an error in the 6th. Luis Vasquez got plunked with the bases loaded to tie the game at 2. Almonte added an RBI single in the 7th and then stole home (16).

Moreno Polanco went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. Jose Rosario allowed a run on 2 hits and struck out 3 in 4 innings.

Both teams are currently in a game at the Royals complex.
