El Paso 2, Oklahoma City 1

OKC home runs: None.

The RedHawks got nipped late as the Chihuahuas scored 1 in the 8th to take the lead.

Matt Duffy's sac fly in the 4th accounted for the lone OKC run. Joe Sclafani, who scored on the play, went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a stolen base (7, 9 season). However, he also committed a very costly error that allowed El Paso to score that go-ahead run in the 8th.

Asher Wojciechowski went 6 innings and allowed a run on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. Jason Stoffel struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 7th. Paul Clemens came on for the 8th and walked both El Paso hitters he faced. Anthony Bass ended up pitching the final 2 innings and one of the runners he inherited from Clemens scored. He allowed a single, and struck out 2.

In game 2 of this series, Alex White will face Joe Wieland at 7:05.

Corpus Christi and Midland was postponed

A doubleheader is scheduled for tonight, with the first game beginning at 5:00. Jordan Jankowski will start game 1, and Mark Appel will be on the mound for game 2.

Lancaster 6, High Desert 2

S- Andrew Walter (1, 10 season)

Lancaster home runs: Jon Kemmer (11, 15 season; solo in 2nd), Tyler White (5, 12 season; 2-run in 3rd)

The JetHawks' early 6-0 lead held up, and they quelled the late Mavericks uprising.

Brett Phillips doubled to lead off the 1st and advanced to 3rd on an error. He would score the first run of the game on a double play. Kemmer's home run led off the 2nd inning. Later in the inning, Austin Elkins hit an RBI groundout, and Tanner Mathis hit into a fielder's choice that scored Danry Vásquez. Rio Ruiz singled to lead off the 3rd, and one batter later, White hit a 2-run homer. Danry finished 2-4.

Vince Velasquez allowed just 1 hit, walked 3, and struck out 8 over 5 shutout innings. Zach Morton tagged in for 3.1 innings and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 1. Andrew Walter allowed a hit that loaded the bases in the top of the 9th, but he was able to end the game without any damage being done. Walter got the final 2 outs of the game, striking out 1.

In the series finale, Brian Holmes will get the start. First pitch is at 8:30.

Quad Cities 5, Cedar Rapids 2

W- Chris Lee (7-6)
L- Hudson Boyd (4-3)
S- Troy Scribner (1)

QC home runs: None.

The River Bandits avoided the sweep as they put up a couple of crooked-numbered innings and Troy Scribner mowed down the Kernels.

James Ramsay went 2-4 with a stolen base (33) and opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 2nd. Bobby Boyd also finished 2-4 and added an RBI single right after Ramsay. The Kernels scored the next 2 runs to tie the game, but the Banditos re-took the lead with 3 in the 6th. Dayne Parker hit an RBI double, and Jose Fernandez added a 2-run single. Fernandez finished 2-5. Ryan Bottger went 2-4 with 2 runs scored.

Chris Lee allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1 over 5 innings. Troy Scribner shut it down, allowing a hit, walking 2, and striking out 8 over the final 4 innings.

The River Bandits' roadtrip continues with 3 in Beloit. In the opener, Michael Feliz will face Hunter Adkins at 7:00.

Vermont 3, Tri-City 1

L- Robert Kahana (0-2, 1-3 season)
S- Koby Gauna (9)

TC home runs: None.

The ValleyCats dropped their first game after the All-Star break as the offense couldn't quite get themselves going. D.J. Fisher struck out with runners on the corners to end the game.

Ariel Ovando's RBI single in the 6th was the lone Tri-City run. He and Mott Hyde had 2 hits apiece.

Robert Kahana went 3.2 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits and struck out 4. Chris Munnelly threw 2.1 perfect innings, striking out 1. Aaron Vaughn threw a 1-2-3 7th, and Angel Heredia allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 over 2 innings.

The series finale has Randall Fant taking on A.J. Burke at 6:00.

Greeneville was off

The Appy Astros are in Princeton, where they'll start a 3-game series with the Rays tonight at 6:05. Reymin Guduan will get the start.

GCL Yankees1 6, GCL Astros 1

W- Christopher Cabrera (2-0)
L- Cris Santamaria (2-2, 3-3 season)

GCL home runs: None.

The Kissimmee Stros couldn't hold their 1-0 lead as the Yankees 1 scored 6 in the final 2 innings.

Randy Cesar's RBI single in the 4th was the GCLstros' only run. He finished 2-4 and is on a 4-game hitting streak.

Joselo Pinales went 4 innings and allowed 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. Cris Santamaria pitched 3 scoreless, but then the wheels fell off for him in the 8th. He allowed 2 home runs (solo and 2-run) in the inning, which accounted for the Yankees' scoring in the 8th. He allowed 3 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. Kyle Gehrs allowed 3 unearned runs on 2 hits and walked 1 in the 9th.

The Astros are in Tampa to face these Yankees 1.

DSL Dodgers 5, DSL Astros Blue 3

W- Johan Diaz (4-1)
L- Salvador Montano (7-3)
S- Edward Perez (5)

Blue home runs: None.

The Blue team led 3-1 after the first third of the game, but the dodgers scored the game's final 4 runs.

Bryan De La Cruz put the Blue team on the board by scoring on an error in the 2nd. Later in the inning, Andy Piñeda hit a single, and an error allowed Oscar Campos to score. Rodrigo Ayarza hit an RBI groundout in the 3rd. Moreno Polanco, who was the losing pitcher on Tuesday, started at shortstop and went 1-5.

Salvador Montano allowed 4 runs (3 earned, 1 inherited runner charged to him) on 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. Luis Ramirez pitched the final 4.1 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits and struck out 3.

The Blue team is currently in a game at the Dodgers complex.

DSL Astros Orange 6, DSL Rangers2 5 in the 8th inning

W- Carlos Pizzolato (2-3)
L- Daniel Mavo (6-5)

Orange home runs: None.

This game was completed early due to rain.

The Orange team went ahead with a run in the 7th and won despite getting held to 4 hits. They're finishing the season strong.

Juan Fuentes hit a 1-out triple in the 1st and scored the game's first run on a Reiny Beltre groundout. The Orange team got 4 in the 2nd as Edgar Lorenzo scored on an errant pickoff attempt and Fuentes hit a 2-run single. An error on the play allowed Wilson Amador to score. Ihan Bernal scored on an error in the 7th. Fuentes had 2 of the Orange team's 4 hits.

Carlos Sanabria pitched 2 innings and allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. Carlos Pizzolato allowed a solo homer to Willy Diaz in the 5th. He went 5 innings and allowed 2 other hits and struck out 6.

The Orange team is currently hosting the Rangers 2.
