No future Astros with birthdays today, but two former Astros celebrate the day ~
LHP Randy Wolf (38)
The Astros traded Chad Reineke to the San Diego Padres in July of 2008 for Randy Wolf. In 12 starts for the Astros, Wolf was 6-2 with a 3.57 ERA and a 1.302 WHIP. He was an All-Star for Philadelphia in 2003. But the thing I most remember Randy Wolf for is that he was just another hapless Houston victim of Bud Selig, having to start a "home game" against the Cubs in Milwaukee after Hurricane Ike. We can only hope that, if anything like that should ever happen again, Jim Crane will politely but firmly tell Bud (or his successor) what to do with himself. Ironically, Wolf went on to pitch for Milwaukee and was released on his birthday in 2012. I blame Selig. Since February of 2014, Wolf has been with the Mariners, Diamondbacks, Marlins, Orioles and now the Angels.
RHP Hipolito Pichardo (45)
Acquired as a free agent in 2002, Hipolito, despite having a pretty awesome name, did not do well in his one appearance for the Astros that year. I mean he REALLY did not do well. In 0.1 IP, he gave up 3H, 3ER, 2BB and was charged with a wild pitch, for an ERA with the Astros of 81.00 and a WHIP of 15.00. That was his last major league appearance.
