ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

Mesa 3, Salt River 1

W- Felipe Rivero (2-4)
L- Vince Velasquez (2-2)

Salt River HRs by Astros players: None.

All the scoring in this game was done in the 1st inning. It was a rather tough night for the Astros players who featured in this game; Vince Velasquez got the start, but he only got 2 outs (1 via strikeout), allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and walking 1.

Offensively, Andrew Aplin went 0-3 with a walk and 2 strikeouts, Rio Ruiz was 0-4 with a hat trick, and Joe Sclafani finished 1-4.

In today's late game (6:35 Mountain), the Rafters will take on Scottsdale.

LIGA VENEZOLANA DE BÉISBOL PROFESIONAL

Caracas 7, Lara 5

W- Victor Sanchez (2-0)
L- Nestor Molina (1-2)

Caracas HRs by Astros players: Danry Vásquez (1, 2-run in 3rd)

The capital club only scored in 2 innings, but their 7 runs were enough to top Lara, the bottom team in the LVBP.

The Cardinals scored first with 1 in the 2nd, but Caracas responded with a 4-run bottom of the 3rd. Danry, who finished 2-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored, put them on top with his 1st homer of the LVBP campaign. He also registered an outfield assist in the 5th when he threw out Cesar Izturis at 2nd. Carlos Perez got the start at catcher and went 1-3 with a walk.

Both teams will play again tonight at 7:30 Venezuelan time.

LIDOM

It was a rainy Tuesday on the islands, as one game in the Dominican and one game in Puerto Rico got called off due to wet grounds.

Licey 4, Toros 1

S- Jairo Asencio (1)

Toros HRs by Astros players: None.

Domingo Santana and Ruben Sosa were both used as pinch-runners for Licey. Both of them appeared in the 9th; Sosa scored.

Teoscar Hernandez went 0-3 with a strikeout for Toros.

Toros will take on Gigantes at 7:30 Atlantic, while Licey will return to action tomorrow night when they travel east to take on Estrellas.

LIGA MEXICANA DEL PACÍFICO

Jalisco 6, Mexicali 4

W- Manuel Flores (1-1)
L- Felipe Gonzalez (2-2)
S- Brian Broderick (7)

Jalisco HRs by Astros players: Japhet Amador 2 (6; 2-run in 1st, solo in 7th)

Big night for the big man, Japhet Amador, whose 2 blasts keyed Jalisco's victory. He had 3 at-bats; both of his hits were homers, he drew a walk, and scored 3 of the 6 Jalisco runs.

Jalisco will now host Mazatlán for 2 games beginning tonight at 7:00.

LIGA DE BÉISBOL PROFESIONAL ROBERTO CLEMENTE

San Juan 10, Carolina 9

W- Yasmanys Fernandez (1-0)
L- Giancarlo Alvarado (0-1)
S- Ryan Kelly (1)

San Juan HRs by Astros players: None.
Carolina HRs by Astros players: None.

Los Senadores got their first win of the season in a wild tilt. Carolina threatened to tie the game in the late stages, but their bid was denied.

Nolan Fontana got the start at 2B for San Juan and finished 1-3 with 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and a steal (1).

For Carolina, Carlos Corporán went 1-5. René Garcia went 1-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored, and after he entered as a pinch-hitter for Garcia, Jobduan Morales hit an RBI single in the top of the 9th to make it a 1-run game.

Raul Rivera pitched 3 innings and struck out 1. Technically, he had a perfect line, but he also allowed one of the 2 runners (Fontana scored the run) he inherited from Jim Patterson in the 4th to score on a double play.

Tonight, San Juan will travel to Mayagüez, while Carolina will be back in action tomorrow as they host Caguas. Both games will be at 7:30 Atlantic.
