No future Astros with birthdays today, but three former Astros were born on this day ~
RHP Dave Smith (died December 17, 2008 at 53)
An eighth round pick by the Astros in 1976, Smith pitched in 563 games for Houston from 1980 to 1990 with an ERA of 2.53, a WHIP of 1.189, and 199 saves. He was an All-Star for the Astros in 1986 and 1990.
SS Jose Uribe (died December 8, 2006 at 47)
Uribe came to Houston as a free agent in January 1993 and played in 45 games for the Astros that season with a .245/.355/.264 batting line. His best season was 1987 when he hit .291 for the Giants in 95 games.
RHP Jeff McCurry (45)
