DSL ASTROS BLUE

6/9 - RHP Jacques Sambo assigned to DSL Astros Blue.
6/9 - RHP Cristian Javier assigned to DSL Astros Blue.

Sambo is a 16-year-old from the island of Curaçao. He'll turn 17 on July 27, making him the youngest player currently in the Houston Astros organization (until this July 2 IFA period begins). I found this article from a paper in Curaçao via Google in the Papiamentu language about his signing, which occurred last month. Papiamentu, along with Dutch, is an official language of Curaçao. It is a language that has Portuguese, African, American Indian, English, Dutch, and Spanish influences.

Curaçao is one of the constituent countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, along with Aruba, Sint Maarten (the Dutch portion of the island of St. Martin; the other portion belongs to France) and the Netherlands itself. The island has produced some baseball talent such as Jurickson Profar (Rangers), Jonathan Schoop (Orioles), and Kenley Jansen (Dodgers). Its most notable name is Andruw Jones, the longtime outfielder for the Braves.

Cristian Javier is an 18-year-old righty. Don't think there's any info on him that is readily available.
