And then there were three. It was a tough day as a couple of teams saw their seasons end a few days too early.

STANDINGS, RESULTS AND LAGNIAPPE

FRESNO

Final Regular Season Record: 1st 84-59 -.-GB L1 (Clinched playoff berth; clinched division title)

PACIFIC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP (BEST OF FIVE)
Fresno leads the series 2-0

Wednesday: Fresno 9 over El Paso 1

Thursday: Fresno 5 over El Paso 4
Jordan Jankowski did not allow a home run in 62.1 innings pitched during the regular season, but El Paso's Hunter Renfroe hit him up for a one-run home run in last night's game. And Nolan Fontana, who hit only three home runs all season, cranked out a two-run shot to take the lead in the 4th last night. That's baseball.

Friday: Fresno at El Paso at 8:05 CST (RHP Mark Appel vs. LHP Robbie Erlin)

Saturday: Fresno at El Paso at 8:05 CST if necessary (LHP Brett Oberholtzer vs. RHP Casey Kelly)

Sunday: Fresno at El Paso at 2:05 CST if necessary

Playoff Picture: Fresno's first two playoff games in the best-of-five Conference series will be at home on Wednesday, September 9th and Thursday, September 10th. The next three games (if three are necessary) will take place at the home ballpark of the PCL Pacific Southern Division winning El Paso Chihuahuas (a San Diego affiliate) from Friday the 11th through Sunday the 13th. Fresno won the season series against El Paso 10 games to 6.

CORPUS CHRISTI

Final Regular Season Record: 1st 89-51 -.-GB W2 (Clinched playoff berth; clinched first half title)

SOUTHERN DIVISION PLAYOFFS (BEST OF FIVE)
The series is tied 1-1

Wednesday: Corpus Christi 9 over Midland 2

Thursday: Midland 9 over Corpus Christi 3
The Hooks trailed from the second inning on until a Jio Mier triple drove in Jon Kemmer to tie things up in the bottom of the seventh and that's where things stood until the top of the ninth happened. The RockHounds scored seven times in that half frame, including a Renato Nunez grand slam. In the bottom of the frame, Conrad Gregor hit a solo home run shortly after Jio Mier and Manager Rodney Linares took umbrage with some of the officiating in the game and were asked to take their opinions elsewhere. And that was that as the series is headed to Midland.

Friday: Corpus Christi at Midland at 7:00 CST (RHP Kyle Westwood vs. RHP Chris Jensen)

Saturday: Corpus Christi at Midland at 7:00 CST

Sunday: Corpus Christi at Midland at 2:00 CST if necessary
Playoff Picture: Corpus Christi will also host the first two playoff games Wednesday, September 9th and Thursday, September 10th, with Midland (an Oakland affiliate) as their opponent. The next three games (if three are necessary) will be played in Midland. Corpus Christi owns the season series against Midland 18-14 and split their last series 2-2.

LANCASTER

Final Regular Season Record: 3rd 75-65 3.0GB L1 (Clinched playoff berth via the wild card)

SOUTH DIVISION MINI-SERIES (BEST OF THREE)
The series is tied up 1-1

Wednesday: Lancaster 9 over High Desert 7

Thursday: High Desert 6 over Lancaster 5
Game 1 saw troubles with the lights. Game 2 saw trouble with the streaming broadcast. What will today bring?

The 'Hawks trailed from the second inning on, but a big three-run seventh put them in striking distance. Unfortunately a ninth inning rally fell just short and the series is headed to High Desert for the deciding game.

Friday: Lancaster at High Desert at 9:05 CST (RHP Akeem Bostick vs. RHP David Perez)

Playoff Picture: Lancaster will host Game 1 of the best-of-three mini-series on Wednesday, September 9th against High Desert (a Rangers affiliate). The Mavericks will host Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) on Thursday the 10th and Friday the 11th. Lancaster leads the season series between the two teams 14 games to 12. The winner of the mini-series will face Rancho Cucamonga (the first half winner) in the Division Finals.

QUAD CITIES

Final Regular Season Record: 1st 88-50 -.-GB L1 (Clinched playoff berth; clinched first half title)

WESTERN DIVISION QUARTERFINALS (BEST OF THREE)
Cedar Rapids wins the series 2-0

Wednesday: Cedar Rapids 5 over Quad Cities 2

Thursday: Cedar Rapids 3 over Quad Cities 1
Brock Dykxhoorn (6.2IP 4H 1R/0ER 2BB 6SO) put up a great start, but he received little run support. The Bandits only run scored in the 4th as Jason Martin tripled and Nick Tanielu singled him in. Ultimately, Quad Cities only managed three additional hits the rest of the way.

TRI-CITY

Final Regular Season Record: 1st 42-33 -.-GB W1 (Clinched playoff berth; clinched division title)

SEMIFINAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (BEST OF THREE)
Staten Island wins the series 2-0

Wednesday: Staten Island 3 over Tri-City 2 in 11 innings

Thursday: Staten Island 10 over Tri-City 5
The Yankees scored four in the first and three more in the third before the 'Cats even got their first hit in the fourth. By then the hill was too steep and Hector Roa's ninth inning two-run homer barely put a dent in the Yankee's lead.

GREENEVILLE

Final Regular Season Record: 2nd 34-33 5.5GB W1 (clinched playoff berth; won League Championship)

Playoff Record:
Won 2-1 in best-of-three semifinals over Kingsport
