Astros Fall and Winter League Recaps

Results for the weekend of November 11-13, 2016

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

Glendale came out with a couple of wins over Scottsdale this weekend.

Francis Martes got the start and the win in the Desert Dogs' 5-2 win on Friday. In four innings, Martes allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits, walked one, and struck out four. David Paulino walked one in a scoreless 6th, and Rogelio Armenteros recorded the final two outs of the 8th inning.

At the plate, Garrett Stubbs finished 1-4 with a run scored, Jason Martin was 0-5, and Nick Tanielu went 1-5.

In the 4-3 win on Saturday, Martin drew a couple of walks and scored a run before getting lifted for a pinch-hitter in the 6th inning. Tanielu singled, walked twice, and drove in the Desert Dogs' first run with a sacrifice fly in the opening frame. Garcia went 0-4 out of the #9 spot.

Friday's games

Reymin Guduan recorded the final out of the 8th with a strikeout in Gigantes' 1-0 loss to Escogido.

Sunday's games

Speaking of Escogido, Mike Hauschild went five innings in his start and allowed an unearned run on two hits, walked four, and struck out one. He did not factor in the decision as Licey scored two runs in the bottom of the 8th to break a 2-2 tie.

LIGA MEXICANA DEL PACIFICO

Alternate title: The Adventures of Leo Heras. He and Obregón took on Jalisco this weekend.

On Friday, Heras hit an RBI single in the 8th, advanced to second base on a wild pitch, stole third (4), and scored on a sac fly from Ricardo Valenzuela.

In Obregón's rain-shortened 6-1 win on Saturday, Heras walked twice and scored twice. Sunday's game was cancelled.

LIGA DE BEISBOL PROFESIONAL ROBERTO CLEMENTE

Roberto Peña and Santurce took two games over Aguadilla this weekend.

On Friday, the Crabbers won 6-4 in 12 innings. Peña went 2-6 with an RBI double in the 8th. He turned in another two-hit game on Saturday, scoring a run in the 3-0 victory.
