Fresno was off

OK... I couldn't sleep until 1 and woke up at 5 to finish off Sunday's recaps. I didn't see the part where Fresno had Monday off.

Casey Coleman takes on Thad Weber in the first of a 4-game series in Albuquerque. First pitch is at 7:05 Mountain.

San Antonio 7, Corpus Christi 3

W- Kyle McGrath (1-1)
L- Jacob Dorris (1-2)

CC home runs: None.

The wheels fell off late for the Corpus bullpen as the Missions went off for 5 in the bottom of the 8th to seize control of this game.

Jon Singleton opened the scoring with a sac fly in the opening frame. J.D. Davis finished 3-4 with RBI singles in the 6th and the 8th. Jason Martin also finished 3-4 and scored 2 of Corpus Christi's 3 runs.

The two runs that Rogelio Armenteros allowed in his 5.2 innings of work came on a homer hit by Stephen McGee (not the former Texas A&M quarterback) in the 3rd. Armenteros allowed 3 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. Jacob Dorris went 1.2 innings and had 3 inherited runners charged to him in the 8th inning. He allowed a single, walked 2, and struck out 2. Ryan Thompson got the final two outs of the 8th, one via strikeout, but allowed all 5 San Antonio runs (again, 3 were charged to Dorris). Thompson allowed 2 runs of his own on 2 hits.

The Hooks will look to avoid the sweep as Josh James takes the mound. He'll take on Christian Friedrich at 7:05.

W- Nolan Sanburn (1-1)
L- Howie Brey (0-2)

BC home runs: Dex McCall (4, solo in 3rd)

The Carolina Stros were buried by an 8-run 4th from the Nationals.

Howie Brey had to wear it in the 4th as he allowed all 8 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits (solo and 3-run homres) and walked 1. Ryan Hartman restored order with 3 scoreless innings, walking 1 and striking out 2. The 2 runs that Andrew Walter allowed in the 8th came on a homer hit by Ian Sagdal. He allowed one other hit in the inning.

3 of Buies Creek's 4 runs came in the 3rd. Dex McCall led it off with a homer. Ryne Birk added an RBI single and Stephen Wrenn added a sac fly. Alex De Goti scored on a wild pitch/Rodrigo Ayarza walk in the 7th. Myles Straw went 2-4 to extend his hitting streak to 6 games and his 2-hit game streak to 5.
