A brief farm report today ....
STANDINGS
Collectively, all of the Astros MiLB affiliates went 37-28 over the last nine days. The full season teams are looking VERY good. Not that many weeks ago, Fresno looked as though their season might be wasted (as far as the possibility of bringing home some postseason bling goes), but they have gone from seven games behind Reno to just two games behind them in the last nine days and are very much in the mix at this point thanks to a six-game winning streak. Corpus Christi (5-3 over their last eight) climbed to second place for the second half, but they are now one game further behind San Antonio, lagging that team by three games. Buies Creek has created some distance from the second place Winston-Salem team by going 6-1 over their last seven games; they lead the Dash by four games. Quad Cities has retained first place for the second half, going 5-3 in their last eight; they lead the second place Peoria Chiefs by three games.
As to the short season teams, the Appy League Greeneville team is still leading the pack despite going only .500 in their last eight games and the Elizabethton Twins continue to breathe down their necks, a half game back. Tri-City (3-5 in the last eight) is now in sole possession of the basement position, but have won their last two games. The Gulf Coast League team (5-3 in the last eight) has managed to go from 4th place to 3rd, but are actually trailing the division leaders by an extra half game since last we checked. As has seemed to be the case since the DSL split into two teams, the Orange team (1-5 and in last place) seems to be victory challenged while the Blue team (2-4, dropping to third) seems to be more capable of hanging in there.
