STANDINGS
Collectively, all of the Astros MiLB affiliates went 30-27 over the last week. Overall, it wasn't the best of weeks for the full season teams, but they (mostly) managed to stay in good position for the postseason. Fresno's 3-4 week has had them trading first place back and forth with Reno (D'Backs) with whom they are currently tied. Fresno will play four more games against Reno (on the road) this season. Corpus was hurt by a 2-4 week (although a baaaaadddddd call cost the Hooks one of those games), dropping to third place in the second half. The Hooks will face first place San Antonio (Padres) seven more times this season and second place Midland (A's) four more times. Buies Creek's 3-4 week was enough to extend their lead over the second place team by an additional half game and Quad Cities 3-3 week increased their lead from four games to five with Kane County (D'Backs) and Peoria (Cardinals) sharing second place.
Of the short season teams, the GCL improved their stock the most. Although they are still in second place, their 4-1 week took them from four games behind the Nationals to only one game behind. However, the Cardinals are breathing down their necks (one game behind) in third place. Nine of the GCL's remaining games will be vs. the Nationals or the Cards so it could prove to be an interesting stretch run. Tri-City (4-2) gained a game on Vermont, but it's a tight race with only two games separating first and last place; half of the ValleyCats remaining games will be within their division. Greeneville was 4-5 for the week (with two doubleheaders). They are still in second place (tied with Johnson City), but dropped a half game further behind the Elizabethton Twins. 10 of their 17 remaining games will be within their division. And alas, barring a miracle, it appears to be all over but the crying for the DSL Astros Orange team who, despite a 4-1 week that raised them from eighth place to sixth place, has an elimination number of one. The DSL Astros Blue team (3-3) isn't in that much better a position. They are eight games out of first with an elimination number of five with 12 games left on the schedule.
