Astros Farm Report: 9-6

An abbreviated Farm Report today ...

As anticipated 3B/2B Josh Rojas was assigned back to Quad Cities from Fresno where he was lending a hand to end the season. He will join rehabbing Astros C Evan Gattis and RHP Michael Feliz for the first game of the Midwest League Division Quarterfinal which is set to start tonight at 6:30 CST at Peoria. The announced starters for the River Bandits in the three-game series are Feliz for Game 1, RHP Cristian Javier (2-0, 2.39) for Game 2 and LHP Patrick Sandoval (2-2, 3.83) for Game 3, if necessary. Games 2 and 3 are scheduled back in Quad Cities on Thursday and Friday.

All of that presupposes a helpful hand from Mother Nature which has not been the case for Tri-City and Greeneville. Tri-City had to cancel its final game of the season series at Vermont on Tuesday and have returned to The Joe to host Connecticut for the penultimate game of the season tonight.

Greeneville and Elizabethton have had to postpone two games so far in the best-of-three Semifinals while the Pulaski Yankees bide their time waiting to see which of the teams they will face in the League Championship Series. Tied 1-1, the Astros and the Twins will try once again to play the deciding game tonight at 6:00 CST in Elizabethton. The Astros will send Cole Watt (2-3, 6.68) to the bump to face Edwar Colina (3-5, 3.44) for the Twins.

The gang over at the Lima Time Time podcast with help from Timothy de Block of Crawfish Boxes fame will be putting on a 24-hour podcast/livecast to raise money for Hurricane Harvey relief. They already have a ton of announced guests lined up and some unannounced ones as well (as in yours truly). They will be broadcasting from 7 pm CST Friday the 8th until 7 pm CST Saturday the 9th. (Personally, I'd tune in around 4:00 am when James and Patrick start getting delirious.) The details can be found here.
