Fresno and Salt Lake was postponed

Due to rain. A doubleheader is scheduled for tomorrow, with game 1 starting at 10:35 AM Mountain Time. Rogelio Armenteros will take on Ivan Pineyro in that contest. Game 2 will begin 30 minutes following the conclusion of game 1. Mike Hauschild will start the second game.

Corpus Christi 8, Midland 3

W- Yoanys Quiala (2-2)
L- Norge Ruiz (2-2)
S- Akeem Bostick (1)

CC home runs: Yordan Alvarez 2 (6; 2-run in 1st, solo in 9th)

The Hooks withstood a 3-run 1st inning from the Hounds and the Twin Towers imposed their will on offense.

Yoanys Quiala went five innings and allowed three runs (all in the 1st) on five hits and struck out two. He certainly fared much better against Midland this time around; in his previous appearance, which also came against the Hounds, he got tagged for five runs in 4.1 innings. Akeem Bostick allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out three over the final four innings to close it out.

Yordan Alvarez opened the scoring when he whacked a two-run homer in the opening frame. Taylor Jones added a two-run single in the 3rd inning and Lorenzo Quintana had an RBI single in the 4th. Josh Rojas ripped an RBI triple in the 8th and trotted home on another Quintana single, and Alvarez capped off the day with a home run to lead off the 9th. Jones went 4-5 on the day. Quintana finished 3-4, while Rojas and Alvarez had two hits apiece.

Corbin Martin makes his Texas League debut in game 3 of this series. He'll face Kyle Friedrichs at 7:00.

Down East 15, Buies Creek 3

W- Edgar Arredondo (2-1)
L- Carson LaRue (1-1)

BC home runs: Abraham Toro (4, solo in 4th), Osvaldo Duarte (1, solo in 4th), Chas McCormick (1, solo in 6th)

The Carolina Stros turned in a nice day of offense as they smacked three home runs. Unfortunately, they were all solo home runs and their opponents hit six of their own, including a grand slam.

Abraham Toro, Osvaldo Duarte, and Chas McCormick swatted the home runs that constituted Buies Creek's offense on Wednesday. McCormick and Luis Payano both finished 2-4.

When a pitching staff allows six home runs... they didn't have a good day at the office. On the bright side, Ronel Blanco worked around a hit to throw a scoreless 8th and struck out two.

Brett Adcock will get the start as Buies Creek looks to avoid a sweep. He'll take on Jonathan Hernandez at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 4, Great Lakes 3

W- Tyler Ivey (1-2)
L- Wills Montgomerie (0-1)
S- Carlos Sanabria (3)

QC home runs: Jake Adams (4, 2-run in 4th)

This affair was a bit tighter, but the Banditos held on to take their first series against an East Division club.

Tyler Ivey turned in another solid outing as he allowed two runs on four hits (solo homer), walked one, and struck out seven in five innings of work. Enoli Paredes dominated in his season debut, allowing two hits, walking one, and striking out seven in just 2.2 innings. Carlos Sanabria got the final four outs to secure the win, although he allowed a solo homer to The Woodlands' Carter Hope in the 9th. Sanabria allowed one other hit and struck out one.

Quad Cities took control with three runs in the 4th; all of them came with two outs. Jonathan Arauz drew a leadoff walk and had to wait a little bit before scoring, which he did when Jake Adams unloaded on a Wills Montgomerie offering. Adrian Tovalin kept the line moving with a double and Marcos Almonte brought him in with a single. Arauz led off the 6th with a single and scored when Bryan de la Cruz beat a double play attempt.

De La Cruz extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a single in the 8th. Adams and Almonte both finished with two hits on the evening.

The Banditos are looking for a sweep. They'll send Peter Solomon to the mound to take on Melvin Jimenez at 7:05 Eastern.
