Results for July 13 and 14, 2018
OK, I think I've recovered enough from being up for 24 hours straight. Let's get back to it...

Fresno
The Grizzlies recently wrapped up their series in Tacoma and ended up dropping the first series after the AAA All-Star break.
They got nipped by a run in the 8th and fell 8-7 on Friday.
Garrett Stubbs and Nick Tanielu both finished 2-4; Stubbs got Fresno on the board with an RBI base hit in the 2nd and Tanielu drove in two more with a base hit later in the frame. Stubbs tripled in the 5th and trotted home on another Tanielu single. Tanielu wound up scoring when D.J. Fisher launched a three-run home run. The blast was Fisher's 5th of the season.
Dean Deetz didn't allow a hit in 2.1 innings of work; he walked two and struck out five.
Fresno bounced back to get on the board with a 7-1 victory on Saturday.
The one run that Trent Thornton allowed in his six innings came on a solo homer, one of four hits that he allowed on the night. He also walked two and struck out six. Buddy Boshers pitched the last three innings and allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out three in a scoreless outing.
A.J. Reed smacked a two-run homer in the opening frame, his 20th of the year. The bottom third of the order of Jack Mayfield, Nick Tanielu, and Tony Nuñez all went 2-4 and they combined to score four of Fresno's seven runs in this game. Fisher also went 2-4 and drew a bases-loaded walk in the 5th inning. Taylor Jones smacked a homer to lead off the 6th and Tanielu capped off the night with an RBI double.
Brady Rodgers' rehab is complete and he will get the start in the series finale. First pitch is at 1:35 Pacific.
Corpus Christi
The Hooks won 2-1 on Friday and 6-3 on Saturday to take three of four in Midland.
Framber Valdez allowed three hits, walked three, and struck out a season-high ten over six shutout frames. Kit Scheetz shook off a 7th-inning run but that last out proved to be elusive. Scheetz also allowed four hits and struck out five in his 2.2 innings. Justin Ferrell walked the first man he faced, which loaded the bases, but he pulled himself together and got the final out.
Josh Rojas had a sac fly in the 1st and Lorenzo Quintana ripped an RBI double in the 7th .
Corpus busted out with five runs in the 2nd to spur them on to the win on Saturday; the haymaker was Eduardo de Oleo's two-run shot. Andy Piñeda finished 3-5 with an RBI triple in that big 2nd inning and he added an RBI single to his ledger in the 7th. Aníbal Sierra went 2-4 with a triple and scored twice.
Ryan Hartman allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits, walked two, and struck out seven in 5.1 innings. Ronel Blanco followed with 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits, walking two, and striking out five.
The Lone Star Series in the Texas League starts up again tonight at 6:05 as Corbin Martin faces Pedro Payano.
Buies Creek
The Carolina Stros started off their series in Winston-Salem by walking off with a 7-6 loss in ten innings on Friday, but they managed to stave off a late rally from the Dash to escape with a 4-3 win on Saturday.
J.J. Matijevic and Ronnie Dawson provided some fireworks on Friday in the form of home runs. Matijevic, who went 3-5 with a couple of doubles and scored three times, now has 11 home runs on the year. Dawson's two-run homer was his 9th of the season.
Cristian Javier went seven innings and allowed three runs on three hits (two-run homer), walked one, and struck out eight.
Jake Adams went 2-4 with a solo homer (3, 11 season) on Saturday. Jose Luis Hernandez completed his rehab and he allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out one in four innings. Gabriel Valdez allowed two hits and struck out four over three scoreless innings, and Tommy DeJuneas allowed two unearned runs on four hits and struck out one over the final two innings.
Carson LaRue takes on Blake Battenfield at 2:00 Eastern.
Quad Cities
The Banditos finished their series in Dayton by walking off with a 6-5 loss in ten innings on Friday. They got edged late on Saturday and dropped a 4-3 decision in Bowling Green.
Everyone in the lineup had a hit on Friday, led by Jonathan Lacroix, who went 3-5 with a double. Marty Costes smacked a solo homer in the 6th, his first professional home run. Colton Shaver tied the game in the 8th with a two-run blast, his 9th of the year. Humberto Castellanos allowed a couple of hits and struck out three over three scoreless frames.
Seth Beer went 2-4 with an RBI double on Saturday. Alfredo Angarita finished 2-5 and scored two of Quad Cities' three runs.
Jairo Solís gets the start in game two of Quad Cities' series in Bowling Green. First pitch is at 2:05.
Tri-City
The ValleyCats dropped their series in Williamsport by losing the finale 3-1 on Friday. However, they opened their series at Penn State with a 2-0 win on Saturday.
Ramiro Rodriguez went 3-3 on Friday; he scored Tri-City's only run and finished a home run shy of the cycle. Carlos Machado brought him in with a base hit.
The two-man game of Michael Wielansky and Luis Encarnación was enough for the ValleyCats on Saturday. They both went 2-4. Wielansky doubled in the 2nd and scored on a single from Encarnación. He singled in the 9th and Encarnación ripped a double to bring him in. Edgardo Sandoval walked one and struck out seven over four no-hit innings. R.J. Freure got his first win as he allowed three hits over three scoreless, and Austin Hansen completed the shutout by walking one and striking out two in the last two innings.
J.B. Bukauskas takes on Jim Voyles at 6:05 Eastern.
GCL Astros
The Palm Beach Stros beat the Mets 3-1 on Friday and topped the Cardinals 9-5 on Saturday.
DSL Astros
The Academy walked off with a 8-7 win in 11 innings over the Braves on Friday. The Dominican Summer League All-Star game is taking place today.
