Round Rock 8, Nashville 6

W- Akeem Bostick (1-0)
L- C.D. Pelham (0-1)

RR home runs: None.

The first edition of the Lone Star Series in the Pacific Coast League went to Round Rock as they came back from a 6-1 deficit, scoring four runs in the 8th inning to take the lead and the series.

It was a tough outing for Ryan Hartman as he allowed six runs on five hits (2-run homer), walked two, and struck out three in three innings. Fortunately, the bullpen picked him up and muffled the Sounds the rest of the way.

Tanner Duncan, in his first Triple-A appearance, allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out two over two scoreless innings. Akeem Bostick took over for the last four innings and he allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out three to get the win.

D.J. Fisher put the Express on the board first with an RBI single in the 1st. They began their comeback attempt with three runs in the 3rd on a pair of RBI doubles from Myles Straw and Jack Mayfield and an RBI groundout from Fisher in between. Mayfield added an RBI single to his ledger in the 8th and he came around to score the tying run on a Kyle Tucker double. One batter later, Taylor Jones put Round Rock in front with a two-run single. Straw (2B, RBI, 3 R, 2 SB) and Mayfield (2 RBI, R) both finished with two hits on the evening. Straw also stole two bases, giving him four on the season.

Corbin Martin will start the first of a four-game series against the Memphis Redbirds. He'll take on Daniel Ponce de León at 7:05.

Amarillo 10, Corpus Christi 8

W- Jesse Scholtens (1-0)
L- Brett Adcock (0-2)

CC home runs: Chuckie Robinson (2, solo in 6th)

The Hooks' attempt to come back from an 8-0 deficit fell short.

Osvaldo Duarte reached on an error in the 5th inning that allowed Carmen Benedetti to score Corpus Christi's first run. Chas McCormick added an RBI single later in the inning. Chuckie Robinson launched a homer to lead off the 6th inning. Lorenzo Quintana hit an RBI single in the 8th and an error on the play allowed Benedetti to score another run. Ronnie Dawson and McCormick walked to lead off the 9th and Stephen Wrenn brought them both in with a triple. Wrenn came home on a Josh Rojas single. Corpus had two men in scoring position with one out in the 9th but they were both stranded to end the game.

Wrenn went 3-4 while McCormick (2B, RBI, R), Robinson (solo HR, 2 R), and Lorenzo Quintana (RBI, R) all finished with two hits apiece.

Brett Adcock went 2.2 innings and allowed six runs (one inherited runner charged to him) on five hits, walked three, and struck out two. José Bravo was summoned from extended spring training to make his 2019 debut as the first man out of the Hooks bullpen. Bravo went 2.1 innings and allowed two runs on two hits (three-run homer; one run was charged to Adcock), walked one, and struck out five. Brandon Bailey pitched the last three innings and allowed two runs on five hits (solo homer), walked two, and struck out three.

Tyler Ivey will get the start in game two of this series. First pitch is at 7:05.

Fayetteville 3, Myrtle Beach 2

W- Chad Donato (1-1)
L- Manuel Rodriguez (0-1)

Fayetteville home runs: Jake Adams (2, 2-run in 1st)

The Woodpeckers nipped the Pelicans with a run in the 9th that broke a 2-2 tie.

Jake Adams opened the scoring by clubbing a two-run home run in the 1st inning. This was Fayetteville's only scoring play until Colton Shaver ripped an RBI double in the 9th that brought in the deciding run. Shaver went 2-4 on the night.

Yohan Ramirez turned in a fine outing as he allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out six over five shutout innings. Chad Donato pitched the final four innings and the two runs he allowed came on a homer hit by Aramis Ademan. Donato allowed four hits (including the homer), walked two, and struck out five.
