Round Rock 9, Memphis 4

W- Brady Rodgers (2-0)
L- Ryan Meisinger (0-4)
S- Ralph Garza Jr. (2)

RR home runs: Taylor Jones 2 (6; solo in 1st, solo in 3rd), Jack Mayfield (4, 2-run in 9th), Yordan Alvarez (10, solo in 9th)

The Express earned the split in Memphis to conclude their first tour of Tennessee in 2019.

Taylor Jones, Jack Mayfield, and Yordan Alvarez all drove in three runs for Round Rock on the afternoon. Jones got things started by blasting solo homers in the 1st and the 3rd and then ripping an RBI double in the 5th. Mayfield followed by lining out, but Alvarez got in on the act by smacking a two-run double. Mayfield hit a sac fly in the 7th and smacked a two-run homer in the 9th; Alvarez capped things off by following with a solo blast of his own. He's the first player in the organization to hit ten home runs in 2019.

Jones and Alvarez both finished 3-5 on the day. Mayfield only had one hit but it did provide the insurance. Myles Straw went 2-5 with a stolen base (7).

Brady Rodgers turned in a bare minimum quality start (six innings, three earned runs), allowing four hits (solo and two-run homers), walking two, and striking out two. Johan Mieses took Rodgers deep twice but he kept everyone else at bay. Tanner Duncan tagged in for 1.2 innings and allowed a run on two hits while striking out one. Ralph Garza Jr. got four fly ball outs to end the game and earn the save.

The Express will spend Tuesday getting back home. They'll begin a five-game series with New Orleans on Wednesday.

Northwest Arkansas 7, Corpus Christi 4

W- Gerson Garabito (1-1)
L- Brett Adcock (0-3)
S- Gabe Speier (3)

CC home runs: J.J. Matijevic (1, 2-run in 3rd)

After the Hooks took the lead in the 2nd, the Naturals hit back with four runs in the top of the 3rd. Corpus managed to get two of those runs back to cut the deficit to one run in the bottom half, but Northwest Arkansas put this one away with two more runs in the 8th.

Osvaldo Duarte went 3-4 and put the Hooks on the board with a two-run single in the 2nd. J.J. Matijevic smacked a two-run homer in the 3rd. They had the bases loaded with one out in the 6th but were turned away without scoring any runs. Corpus also stranded runners on the corners to end the game, which capped off a night where they were just 1-10 with runners in scoring position. Duarte also stole a base (2); Chuckie Robinson finished 2-3 with a double and scored a run.

Brett Adcock went 2.2 innings and allowed five runs (one earned) on four hits and walked one. Kit Scheetz allowed a hit and walked one in 1.1 innings. Carson LaRue was next and in four innings, he allowed two runs on three hits, walked one, and struck out three. Brendan Feldmann threw a 1-2-3 9th inning, getting a groundout, a line drive out, and a flyball out.

Tyler Ivey will get the start in game two of this series. He'll face Ofreidy Gomez at 6:15.

Fayetteville was off

The Woodpeckers will start a three-game series against Frederick at 7:00 Eastern.

Peoria 7, Quad Cities 0

W- Tommy Parsons (3-0)
L- Mark Moclair (0-2)

QC home runs: None.

The Banditos' offensive woes continue as they got blanked for the third time in their last four contests.

Andy PiƱeda and Trey Dawson doubled... and that was all the offense that Quad Cities could muster up.

Mark Moclair went 2.1 innings and allowed two runs, a hit, walked two, and struck out two before leaving with an injury. Humberto Castellanos was summoned from the bullpen and threw 2.2 innings, allowing five runs on six hits (two-run homer), walking one, and striking out three. Devin Conn allowed two hits and walked one in 1.1 innings. He left the bases loaded for Jojanse Torres in the 7th and Torres got him out of the inning with two strikeouts. Torres allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out five in 1.2 innings. Yes, all of his outs came via the strikeout.

Austin Hansen takes on Alvaro Seijas in game two of this series. First pitch is at 12:05.
