ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE
Peoria over Mesa 9-2
RHP Jarred Cosart (L, 0-1) got the start for Mesa and gave up two runs on five hits and a walk, and recorded one strikeout over four innings of work. RHP Nick Tropeano relieved Dodgers lefty Chris Reed in the fifth as he came in with two on and no outs, and after striking out one, allowed a three-run home run to Seattle prospect Nick Franklin before striking out the last two batters. Tropeano pitched one more inning and at the end of the day, he allowed two runs on three hits with three strikeouts (and no walks). Chia-Jen Lo pitched a perfect ninth and retired the side with eight pitches, seven for strikes. 3B Bobby Borchering had a nice day at the plate going 2-for-3 with a double. He struck out once and scored a run. 1B Jon Singleton did not fare quite as well in an 0-for-4 appearance with a strikeout.

Arizona Fall League & Baseball World Cup Updates
The Salt River Rafters lost 13-7 to the Peoria Javelinas and all was not well in Astroland. First the good news. Jacob Goebbert went 1-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Not the not-so-good news. Over 1/3 of an inning, Chris Hicks gave up 4 hits, 5 ER (3 scored after he left the game), 1 SO and 1 BB. And Josh Zeid gave up 3 hits, 3 ER, 2 BB and 2 SO over 1 inning pitched. Ouch. Next game against Scottsdale at 12:35 MST today.
Over at the World Baseball Cup, the U.S. beat Japan 7-3 to improve their record to 2-1. Today the U.S. takes on Greece while Marlon Avea's Nicaraguan team faces Australia. The unbeaten Canadian team, featuring Jimmy VanOstrand and Emerson Frostad will play Chinese Taipei tonight.
