Happy Birthday to ~

LHP Blair Walters (24)
Drafted by the White Sox out of the University of Hawaii in the 11th round in 2011, Walters came into the Astros organization as a part of the July 2012 trade with Chicago for Brett Myers. Walters spent his 2013 season with the High A Lancaster team, compiling a 6-2 record with a 7.36 ERA and a 1.923 WHIP in 34 games (five starts). He finished the regular season making one spot start at Oklahoma City.

OF John Fishel (51)
Drafted by Houston in the ninth round in 1985, Fishel's entire major league career consisted of 19 games played for the Astros in 1988 in which he hit .231/.310/.346. He was traded, along with two others, to the Yankees in January of 1989 for Rick Rhoden. He was the 1984 College World Series Outstanding Player when he played for California State at Fullerton.

OF Eric Anthony (46)
A 34th round draft pick by Houston in 1986, Anthony played for the Astros from 1989 to 1993, hitting .224/.295/.378. He was traded to the Mariners in December 1993 for Mike Felder and Mike Hampton. He was one of the few players ever to hit a home run into the upper deck of the Astrodome.

Astros Minor League Roster Moves

LHP Blair Walters, who has pitched for Lancaster this season (exclusively out of the bullpen since June), is getting a start for Oklahoma City tonight. [UPDATED: RHP Andrew Robinson was assigned from Corpus Christi to Oklahoma City and LHP Alex Sogard was activated from the DL for Corpus.]

Happy Birthday - 11/8

LHP Blair Walters (23)
Drafted by the White Sox out of the University of Hawaii in the 11th round in 2011, Walters came into the Astros organization as a part of the July 2012 trade with Chicago for Brett Myers. He made 13 starts for the White Sox in their low A affiliate with good success, compiling a 2.88 ERA and a 1.097 WHIP. He struggled somewhat in making the transition to High A, first for the White Sox and then for the Astros. In his final eight starts of the regular season for Lancaster, he was 3-3 with a 7.62 ERA and a 1.641 WHIP. In the post-season, Walters was 1-0 in two starts with a 2.70 ERA and a 1.600 WHIP.

Roster Moves

The huge infusion of talent that the Astros have added to the farm system via recent trades means that some of the current rosters are getting strained to the breaking point. There are only so many prolonged DL stints and temporary inactive designations before players will have to be released. We've already seen a couple of these at Lancaster with the recent releases of Brian Streilein and Kirk Clark. I will do my best to keep on top of these moves and let you know when I have confirmed information. With that said, here are your latest moves.

Oklahoma City
LHP Rudy Owens will be has been assigned to Oklahoma City.
According to Sports Reporter (and Jake Buchanan girlfriend) Chelsa Messinger, RHP Jake Buchanan will be has been assigned from Corpus Christi to Oklahoma City.
ADDED: LHP Xavier Cedeno is being called up to Houston.
ADDED: RHP Jose Cisnero is being assigned from Corpus Christi to Oklahoma City.
ADDED: RHP Jarred Cosart is being assigned from Corpus Christi to Oklahoma City.
ADDED: RHP Jonnathan Aristil was released.

Corpus Christi
CF Robbie Grossman was assigned to Corpus Christi.
ADDED: IF Jordan Kreke was assigned from Oklahoma City to Corpus Christi.
