Happy Birthday to ~

1B Yonathan Mejia (22)
Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2009, Mejia spent the 2014 season playing for the Greeneville Astros. In 50 games, he hit .235/.297/.350 with eight doubles, two triples and three home runs.

OF George Springer (25)
Houston's first round 2011 draft pick out of the University of Connecticut started his season in Oklahoma City, but soon thereafter received the call to Houston, making his major league debut on April 16th. In 78 games, he hit .231/.336/.468 with eight doubles, one triple, 20 home runs and 51 RBI before ending up on the DL in late July.

Originally signed by the Colt .45's as a free agent in 1962, Morgan played for the Colt 45's and Houston Astros from 1963 to 1971 and again in 1980. In 1032 games over 10 seasons for Houston, Morgan hit .261/.374/.393 and earned two of his ten All-Star Nods. Following his trade to the Reds in November of 1971, Morgan hit his stride. It was with the Reds that the future Hall of Famer earned two National League MVP awards, two World Series rings, five Gold Gloves and made his other eight All-Star appearances.

C Joe Ferguson (68)
An eighth round draft pick by the Dodgers in 1968, Ferguson came to Houston in a November 1976 trade with the Cardinals. In 183 games for the Astros in 1977 and 1978, he hit .243/.375/.420

1B Yonathan Mejia (21)
Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2009, the switch-hitting second baseman was a standout with the GCL Astros this season, hitting .324/.356/.437 in 59 games, earning him an end-of-season promotion to Tri-City.

OF George Springer (24)
Houston's first round 2011 draft pick out of the University of Connecticut split his 2013 season between Corpus Christi and Oklahoma City. His composite batting line was .303/.411/.600 with 27 doubles, four triples, 37 home runs and 45 stolen bases.

2B Yonathan Mejia (20)
Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2009, the switch-hitting second baseman spent the season with the GCL Astros, hitting .239/.284/.293 in 52 games.

OF George Springer (22)
Houston's first round 2011 draft pick out of the University of Connecticut really made his mark with the Hi-A Lancaster team his first full season before meriting a late season promotion to Corpus Christi. In 106 games with the JetHawks, he hit .316/.398/.557. He didn't fare quite so well with the Hooks as he hit .219/.288/.342 in 22 games. He finished the season with 21 doubles, 10 triples and 24 home runs.

Happy Birthday - 9/19

2B Yonathan Mejia (19)
Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2009, the switch-hitting second baseman is in his second year with the Astros. In his first year with the GCL Astros in 2011, he put up some very good numbers with a line of .329/.357/.384/.781. and only three errors over 40 games.

OF George Springer (22)
A late signing, this 1st round 2011 draft pick out of the University of Connecticut barely had time to get his feet wet at Tri-City. He hit .179 with a .303 OBP and .393 SLG in 8 games with the Valley Cats. He will be participating in the fall instructional league at Kissimmee which starts this week.
