OF/1B Jon Kemmer (24)
Drafted by the Astros in the 21st round in 2013 out of Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Georgia, Kemmer split his 2014 season between Quad Cities and Lancaster. In 91 games between the two venues, he hit .291/.345/.523 with 25 doubles, two triples, sixteen home runs and 50 RBI. An injury (broken fibula) in late August ended his season early.

Originally drafted by Cleveland in the first round in 2005, Crowe came to Houston as a free agent in November 2012. In 60 games for Houston in 2013, he hit .218/.287/.291. He last played in the Detroit minor league system, but was released by that team in July 2014.
LHP Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams (50)
An eighth round pick by San Diego in 1982, Williams came to Houston in a December 1993 trade with the Phillies. He pitched in 25 games for Houston in 1994 with a 7.65 ERA and a 2.250 WHIP. His best season was his All-Star season with Chicago in 1989 when he had a 2.76 ERA in 76 appearances for the Cubbies. Von Hoff was drafted from the Giants in 1964 and pitched in 13 games for Houston in 1965 and 1967 with a 5.06 ERA and a 1.594 WHIP.
RHP Dan Osinski (died September 13, 2013 at 79)
Purchased from the White Sox in December 1969, Osinski pitched in only three games for Houston at the end of his career in 1970 with a 9.82 ERA and a 1.909 WHIP. In eight seasons for six different teams, he had a 3.34 ERA and a 1.391 WHIP in 324 appearances.

Mann signed with Houston as a free agent in January of 2001 and pitched in 21 games for the Astros in 2001 and 2002 with a 3.95 ERA and a 1.207 WHIP.

He split his 2012 season between AAA Oklahoma City (.318/.410/.555 in 73 games) and Houston (.259/.330/.448 in 72 games). He hit a total of 37 doubles, one triple and 19 home runs between the two venues.

3B Scott Moore was called up to Houston as Justin Maxwell was placed on the DL.
RF Fernando Martinez, who had been on a rehab assignment at OKC, was optioned to OKC.
LF Travis Buck, who had been on a rehab assignment with Corpus Christi, was designated for assignment.

It was announced that newly signed draft pick SS Nolan Fontana will be assigned to Lexington.

THURSDAY'S RESULTS
DSL Royals over DSL Astros 5-1
RHP Luis Abad gave up four runs in the third inning in part because of a wild pitch and two errors in the frame and ended the day having allowed five runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. RHP Frangy Colon took it the rest of the way, allowing one hit and four walks but no runs. The Astros were held to three hits, two singles by DH Frederick Serrano and an RBI single by 2B-SS Yoel Silfa.
Lexington over Lakewood 4-1
Lexington led this one from the second inning on. Nick Tropeano (W, 5-3) went six, giving up only one run on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts. The bullpen was in lockdown mode as Murilo Gouvea, Evan Grills and Carlos Quevedo (S, 2) provided scoreless relief. Brandon Meredith hit his first home run of the season; Matt Duffy was two-for-four; Delino DeShield had two RBIs; and Roberto Pena hit his fifth double of the season.

Tyson Perez (W, 4-1) has been the recipient of a great deal of run-scoring largesse from his team so far this season. He got the win despite allowing five runs on 11 hits and two walks in five innings as his team took the lead in the bottom of the fifth on a Chris Epps home run and then added on five more runs for good measure in the subsequent innings. Andrew Robinson was stellar in three innings of relief as he allowed only one hit and one walk with seven strikeouts. Jason Chowning showed that he was human after all as he gave up a run on two hits and a walk, but did record two strikeouts. Erik Castro continues to hit like a mad man with another three-for-four night with four RBIs; Telvin Nash was two-for-five with three RBIs; Grant Hogue is on an eight-game hitting streak and is hitting .556 since being activated from the DL; and George Springer only had one hit (a double), but managed to walk three times and score three runs. And that's without even mentioning two-hit nights by Jonathan Meyer and Ben Heath, and stolen bases from Heath and Hogue. Phew! Gaudy offense indeed!

Oklahoma City has now won nine in a row, 14 in a row in their home park. Paul Clemens got his seventh win despite giving up four runs on eight hits and three walks over five innings. Jonnathan Aristil, Adalberto Flores and Jose Valdez took it the rest of the way, with only Valdez allowing a run on a solo home run in the ninth. A seven run fourth inning pretty much sealed the deal for Oklahoma City. Scott Moore had an insane night at the plate, going four-for-four with a a walk, a double, a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. Brad Snyder and Jimmy Paredes also had two-hit nights, but look like slackers in comparison to Moore.
GAME OF THE DAY

What went right: A good start by Brett Oberholtzer and a hot bat from Kody Hinze.
Brett Oberholtzer's season has been one of fits and starts. With his second good start in a row, I would really like to see him keep building on that. But I digress. Oberholtzer got his fourth win and Jason Stoffel got his eighth save as Corpus led this one from the second inning on. Jason Stoffel has only allowed one run and one walk in his last ten appearances. The best part of this game, though, was seeing Kody Hinze hit two home runs (his fifth and sixth of the season). If he can start really contributing, that will be a huge boon to this lineup. Brandon Wikoff had a very nice three-for-four night. Jonathan Villar didn't get a hit, but walked twice and stole two bags. Chris Wallace and Jordan Kreke each had a stolen base as well.

After a really bad start to the season, Lancaster reliever Andrew Robinson has gotten into a nice groove with a 2.57 ERA over his last ten appearances. His outing last night, with seven strikeouts over three innings of relief, is impressive by any measure.

Roster Moves - 11/15/11
Houston signed IF Scott Moore to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training. Most recently with the Iowa Cubs, he had good numbers in 2011. Zachary Levine has the story here.
