Surprise over Mesa 10-8
1B Jon Singleton was 0-for-5 with a strikeout. It just wasn't a good day for Singleton as he ground into two double plays and had another couple of ground outs. George Springer was the DH and went 1-for-4 with a triple, a strikeout and a run scored. Jio Mier has quietly gone about having a good run at the plate since he apparently took over for Bobby Borchering as a regular (Borchering hasn't played since November 1st). In yesterday's game, Mier was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored a run in a start at third base. Mier is hitting .316/.344/.439 in 15 games with seven doubles and seven RBI. LHP Alex Sogard pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out one. Sogard allowed one run to score and was charged with two additional runs after he was lifted from the game. RHP Chia-Jen Lo also pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed one run on two hits.
