I often find myself following rabbit trails that end with my accumulation of random information that I find interesting. Such was the case with the average player age on the Astros full season minor league teams. I started looking at this last week in conjunction with my Season Preview of the Lancaster team because I quickly realized just how young the JetHawks players were. So I looked at the rest of the teams as well. The findings were interesting to me, but your mileage may vary.
As a side note, in order to compile these averages, I took all of the players who were on the opening day roster for a team, even if they were on the DL or the temporary inactive list. I did not include those who were on the preliminary rosters released by the team if they didn't appear on the the opening day roster.
These were the average ages AS OF APRIL 3, 2014 which was the minor league opening day. There may be some variance for rounding errors and accounting for Leap Days, but the information should generally be accurate within a day or so.

The Astros want their young guys to feel the fire of playing in Lancaster. I like the fact they make their players play in that environment. 1oldpro
