A Look at the Gulf Coast League Astros

The GCL Astros' roster was just recently updated for the new season. They'll be kicking off the 2014 campaign this afternoon in Kissimmee against the Braves at noon Eastern.

There are currently 29 players on the roster: 12 pitchers, 6 catchers, 6 infielders, and 5 outfielders.

6 players from the 2014 draft class will be starting their careers in the GCL; Ben Smith (17) was placed on the 60-day DL as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

-Perdomo is a new addition to the organization; he spent last season with the GCL Red Sox after signing as an undrafted free agent from ASA College, a New York City-based junior college with branches in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and.... Miami.

-Vaughn is also an undrafted free agent; he played at Northwest Nazarene, a Division II school located in Nampa, Idaho.

-Solarte, in case you missed it, was one of the two players that the Astros received from the Blue Jays in exchange for Adron Chambers.
