Astros Minor League Player and Pitchers of the Week: Week 11

It's time to look back at Week 11 and acknowledge some winning performances for the week commencing Sunday, June 8th and continuing through Saturday, June 14th.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

First my honorable mentions for the week, and there are a lot of them! Those go to Oklahoma City's L.J. Hoes (.476/.560/.571), Gregorio Petit (.440/.440/.640) and Preston Tucker (.364/.391/.818); Quad Cities' Jon Kemmer (.471/.538/.550); Lancaster's Danry Vasquez (.476/.500/.619), Carlos Correa (.381/.500/.524) and Conrad Gregor (.360/.429/.640); DSL Blue's Joan Mauricio (.368/.480/.632), Oliver Toribio (.353/.508/.471) and Juan Fuente (.500/.588/.571); and DSL Orange's Frankeny Fernandez (.421/.517.526), Vicente Sanchez (.400/.500/.700), Rodrigo Ayarza (.350/.480/.500) and Luis Vasquez (.409/.458/.500.

There was really no contest, though, for my winner. Hitting six home runs in a week, three in one game, is pretty special by anyone's standards!

STARTING (TANDEM) PITCHER OF THE WEEK

My honorable mentions this week include Oklahoma City's Nick Tropeano and Bobby Doran; and Lancaster's Kent Emanuel and Josh Hader. But there were two performances that stood out for me. First the runner-up:

RHP Kyle Smith
0.00 ERA/1.200 WHIP
5IP 4H 2BB 9SO
Held batters to a .222 batting average

Our winner had no opening day jitters. He allowed only two hits and walked no batters to set the right tone for the Tri-City opener.

RHP Austin Chrismon (Tri-City) - Win
1.80 ERA/.0.400 WHIP
5IP 2H 1R 0BB 4SO
Held batters to a .125 batting average
