It's time to look back at Week 14 and acknowledge some winning performances for the week commencing Sunday, June 29th and continuing through Saturday, July 5th. Again, I'm traveling so I'm going to try to keep this short and to the point which, unfortunately, means that several deserving performances will go unrecognized.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
I found nine players this week that went above and beyond the rest. First, I have seven honorable mentions: Oklahoma City's Robbie Grossman and Austin Wates; Corpus Christi's Jonathan Meyer; Tri-City's Bobby Boyd; and Wander Franco, Connor McDonald and Jose Benjamin in the DSL.
But when it came right down to it, two players really stood out for me. First, our runner-up:
IF Juan Santana (Greeneville)
.455/.480/.727 in 5 games
8R 3-2B HR 3RBI 2BB 0SO SAC SF 2SB 0CS
My winner just BARELY inched out Santana for me by having a couple more RBI and fewer (as in zero) errors, but it was really, really close. This 14th round draft pick is making himself right at home in Tri-City.

There were quite a number of dominant outings this week. First, the honorable mentions go to Corpus Christi's Kyle Smith; Quad Cities Adrian Houser and Michael Feliz; Greeneville's Jose Montero; the GCL's Randall Fant; and the DSL's Salvador Montano.
The runner-up really did a terrific job and pitched twice during the week, once as a starter and once out of the bullpen, five innings in each appearance. And he's a lefty ... be still my heart!
LHP Starlyng Sanchez (DSL Astros) - 1 win
0.90 ERA/0.800 WHIP
10IP (2 games) 8H 1R 0BB 13SO .216 BA
3 inherited runners/1 scored
But my winner was so dominant that he got a promotion the next day!
RHP Chris Devenski (Lancaster) - 1 win
0.00 ERA/0.286 WHIP
7IP (1 game) 2H 0BB 8SO .083 BA
STARTING (TANDEM) PITCHER OF THE WEEK: RHP CHRIS DEVENSKI

RELIEF PITCHER OF THE WEEK
I got tough this week because the shut-down relief performances are getting out of control! That means I'm only handing out honorable mentions (and the win) to the crème de la crème of relievers for the week - Oklahoma City's Jorge de Leon; Corpus Christi's Alex Sogard (who was traded yesterday) and Mitch Lambson; and Quad Cities' Tyler Brunnemann.
This isn't the first rodeo for my winner (literally and figuratively since he's been known to ride in a rodeo or two in his time). He won just a couple of weeks back and has been really lights out incredible since his promotion to Corpus Christi -- 2-0 with 4 saves, a 0.46 ERA and a 1.169 WHIP.
