Astros Minor League Snapshot

We are now 15 weeks in to the minor league season. Let's take a look at where things stand.

OKLAHOMA CITY

3rd    50-49    .505    2.5GB    W2

The RedHawks remain in third place in the American Southern Division after going 2-3 before the All-Star Break. Omaha has reclaimed the division lead with Iowa only a half game out of the lead. They will start an eight-game homestand tonight with four against Nashville (51-47) and four against Round Rock (48-47), against whom the RedHawks are 3-5 and 4-4, respectively in the season series.

Note that Kiké Hernandez still ranks 1st in batting average with a .337 mark despite having been called up to Houston.

CORPUS CHRISTI

For the season:
4th    48-48    .500    6.5GB    W1

For the second half:
2nd     14-12     .538     2.5GB     W1

With a 4-3 week, the Hooks fell from one and a half games out of first place in the second half to two and a half games out, but conversely went from fourth place to second place in the second half standings as Frisco and San Antonio fell behind. It's still a very tight race with first and fourth place only separated by three and a half games. The week ahead takes the Hooks on the road for four against Frisco (53-41) and three against San Antonio (49-47). Corpus Christi is even in the season series against San Antonio, but they trail Frisco 10-14 for the season. They are in the midst of playing 26 straight games (with no days off) against their division rivals. Their chances at the second half title will likely be largely determined by this stretch of games.

After going 5-1 for the week, the JetHawks reclaimed first place (albeit a tie) for the season standings, but they remain in fourth place in the second half standings. However, they did go from 11 games back to only six games back in the second half. Lancaster lost Game 1 of the current series it is hosting with Visalia (45-51). It is only the second look that the JetHawks have gotten of that team this season after having won their first series with them. It was a disappointing week for the River Bandits. They are getting their first look at three Eastern Division teams this week. The River Bandits lost the first of three at home against Ft. Wayne (38-56).
