Oklahoma City 9, Iowa 6
W- Paul Clemens (6-2)
L- Marcus Hatley (2-5)
OKC home runs: Joe Sclafani (1, 2 season; walk-off grand slam in 9th)
The flight of that ball was quite a sight to see. Joe Sclafani's 2nd home run of the season accounted for 4 of the 5 OKC runs in the bottom of the 9th as they took a 2-1 lead in this big 5-game set.
OKC got a pair in the 4th on an RBI single from Ronald Torreyes and a sac fly from Andrew Aplin. After the I-Cubs got 1 in the top of the 6th to take a 4-2 lead, the RedHawks tied the game as Aplin hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the frame.
Everyone who appeared at the plate in the bottom of the 9th reached safely. Matt Duffy, Carlos Perez, and Ruben Sosa all hit singles to load the bases, and Jonathan Villar walked Duffy home to make it a one-run game. One batter later, Sclafani ended it with his 1st career grand slam. Torreyes, Aplin, Duffy, and Perez all had 2-hit nights; Duffy has a 5-game hitting streak, while Aplin has a hit in 7 of his 8 games with the RedHawks. Torreyes has 3 straight multi-hit games and has at least 2 hits in 7 of his last 8.
In his AAA debut, Luis Cruz went 5.2 innings and allowed 4 runs on 5 hits (2 solo homers), walked 4, and struck out 7. Jorge De Leon retired all 4 Cubs he faced, striking out 2. Jason Stoffel allowed a 2-run homer to Mike Olt in the 8th. He allowed one other hit and struck out 1 in the inning. Paul Clemens worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 9th.
In game 4 of this series, Asher Wojciechowski will take on Eric Jokisch at 6:05.
Arkansas 4, Corpus Christi 3
W- Tyler DeLoach (2-0, 12-4 season)
L- Brady Rodgers (4-11, 5-11 season)
S- Jairo Diaz (4, 8 season)
CC home runs: Teoscar Hernandez (1, 18 season; solo in 1st), Colin Moran (1, 6 season; solo in 2nd)
All the scoring in this game was done in the first 2 innings. The Hooks held the Travs to 1 scoring inning, but that was a 4-run 2nd. They had some chances, but were unable to find the breakthrough.
Teoscar's first Texas League blast opened up the scoring in the 1st. Colin Moran followed suit by leading off the 2nd with his first homer as a member of the Astros organization. Later in the inning, Jonathan Meyer hit a double and scored on a René Garcia single. Garcia finished 3-4 with a double, while Moran went 2-3.
Brady Rodgers went 7 innings and all 4 runs he allowed came in that 2nd inning. He allowed 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. David Rollins allowed a hit in a scoreless 8th.
The Hooks will look to avoid the sweep as Mark Appel and Colton Cain will take on Kramer Sneed at 6:10.
San Jose 4, Lancaster 0
W- Joe Biagini (8-8)
L- Evan Grills (1-2, 4-5 season)
Lancaster home runs: None.
Yeah, it's been a tough series for the JetHawks. 0-fer with runners in scoring position and 12 left on base in game 1, 2 errors resulting in a walk-off loss in game 2, and in this one, they were held to just 4 singles.
Chan-Jong Moon, Rio Ruiz, Tyler White, and Ronnie Mitchell had 1 hit apiece. The JetHawks stranded the bases loaded to end the 5th and stranded runners on 2nd and 3rd to end the 8th.
Evan Grills had a bare minimum quality start, allowing 8 hits (solo homer) and striking out 2. Juan Minaya struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 7th, and Tyler Brunnemann allowed a run on a force out, a single, and walked 2 in the 8th.
In the series finale, Brian Holmes will take on Pat Young, a graduate of College Park High School in The Woodlands. First pitch is at 7:00.
Quad Cities 6, Beloit 1
W- Blaine Sims (3-4, 4-4 season)
L- Junior Mendez (2-7)
QC home runs: Chase McDonald (14, 2-run in 1st), James Ramsay (1, grand slam in 2nd)
It was the Chase & James Show at Modern Woodmen Park in this one, as they were the entire offense.
They had 5 of the 7 River Bandits hits (Ramsay 3, McDonald 2) and their homers turned out to be all the offense that was required for this game.
Blaine Sims allowed 4 hits and struck out 6 over 6 shutout innings. Andrew Walter struck out the side in order in the 7th. The Snappers spoiled the shutout as they got a run off of Keegan Yuhl in the 8th. That run came off a single. Yuhl walked 2 and struck out 1 in the 8th, and Frederick Tiburcio threw a 1-2-3 9th.
The River Bandits will look for the split as Michael Feliz takes on Joey Wagman. First pitch is at 5:00.

In game 2 of this series, Austin Chrismon will face Nolan Gannon at 4:05.

The grounds in Pulaski are still wet. This series will not be rescheduled or made up.

GCL Braves 12, GCL Astros 2
W- Jared Dettman (1-3)
L- Harold Arauz (4-2)
GCL home runs: Luis Payano (3, solo in 8th)
The Kissimmee Stros trailed 7-0 after 2 innings and 12-1 after 5. So... not a good day at the office.
Joan Mauricio scored on a wild pitch in the 3rd, and Payano's 3rd home run of the season led off the 8th. Juan Hernandez is apparently a 2-way player now, as he was the starting 2B and hit a double in 3 at-bats. Also, Jorge Martinez, who was recently released from the Indians' system, made his debut as a member of the Astros organization. He struck out in his lone at-bat in the 8th.
Harold Arauz was shelled in his 2 innings as he allowed 7 runs on 6 hits (solo and 2-run homers) and walked 1. He failed to record a strikeout for the first time this season. Alejandro Solarte allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits and walked 1 in 2 innings. J.D. Osborne allowed 2 runs, a double, walked 2, and struck out the side in the 5th. Travis Ballew allowed 2 hits and struck out 2 over 2 scoreless, and Samil De Los Santos walked 1 and struck out 1 in a scoreless 9th.

Josue Uribe walked 1 and struck out 1 in a scoreless 6th. Gabriel Valdez went 2 innings and allowed a hit and struck out 3, and Joel Belboder walked 1 in a scoreless 9th.
Marcos Almonte opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 3rd. He then stole 3rd (20) and scored on an error. Rodrigo Ayarza added an RBI groundout later in the inning. In the 6th, Wander Franco scored on a wild pitch, and Andy Piñeda scored on an error after Jonathan Matute grounded into a force out. Piñeda reached base in all 4 of his plate appearances, as he went 2-2 with 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and 2 steals (21). Franco went 2-5.
DSL Astros Orange 4, DSL Yankees2 3
W- Carlos Sanabria (2-1)
L- Luis Rosario (0-3)
Orange home runs: Felix Lucas (2, 2-run in 1st), Anardo Peralta (1, 2-run in 2nd)
Those 2 2-run shots constituted the Orange offense. Edgar Lorenzo went 2-3 with a double and scored a run.
Carlos Pizzolato allowed 3 unearned runs on 4 hits and struck out 2 in 4 innings. Carlos Sanabria pitched the final 3 innings, allowing a hit, walking 2, and striking out 2.
From July 17: DSL Astros Orange 7, DSL Yankees2 6
W- Ramon Rodriguez (1-0)
L- Jose Pujols (2-3)
Orange home runs: None.
Well, originally, this was a 7-6 loss for the Orange team. But some kind of appeal was upheld in the Orange team's favor. So I guess they reset the game at the point of dispute. I don't even know.
Anyway, Anardo Peralta delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th. Here is the box score of this game, for your perusal.
Ramon Rodriguez allowed an unearned run, a hit, walked 2, and struck out 1 in 3 innings after the game was resumed.
